Bohuslav Karlík
Bohuslav Karlík (November 25, 1908 – September 29, 1996) was a Czechoslovak flatwater and slalom canoeist who competed from the late 1930s to the early 1950s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won the silver in the C-1 1000 m event at Berlin in 1936. Karlík won a complete set of medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with a gold in the C-2 10000 m (1938), a silver in the C-2 1000 m (1938), and a bronze in the C-2 10000 m events (1950). In canoe slalom, he won a silver medal in the C-1 team event at the 1949 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Geneva. Canoe Sprint
Canoe sprint is a water sport in which athletes race canoes or kayaks on calm water. Overview Race categories vary by the number of athletes in the boat, the length of the course, and whether the boat is a canoe or kayak. Canoe sprints are sometimes referred to as flat water racing. The distances recognized by the ICF for international canoe sprint races are 200m, 500m, and 1000m. These races take place on straight courses with each boat paddling in its own designated lane. Longer marathon races do exist, notably the 5000m (also an ICF-recognized distance) – these usually have athletes starting in a large pack at a start line before paddling around a set course with marked turning points (there are no assigned lanes). Jan Brzák-Felix
Jan Brzák-Felix (6 April 1912 – 15 July 1988) was a Czechoslovak slalom and sprint canoeist from Prague who competed from the mid-1930s to the early 1950s. Competing in three Summer Olympics, he won three medals in the C-2 1000 m event with two golds (1936, 1948) and one silver (1952). Brzák-Felix also won four medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with three golds (C-2 1000 m: 1950, C-2 10000 m: 1938, 1950) and one silver (C-2 1000 m: 1938). He also competed at the Geneva 1949 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships and earned two silver medals (C-1 team, C-2 team) and two bronze medals (C-1, C-2).
