Bohlin Cywinski Jackson is a United States-based architectural practice that was founded in 1965 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania by Peter Bohlin and Richard Powell. Bohlin's firm then merged with John F. Larkin and Bernard Cywinski's Philadelphia-based architectural practice, Larkin Cywinski, in 1979. It is recognized for its distinguished portfolio of residential, university, commercial, cultural and government projects. Design Bohlin Cywinski Jackson is known for emphasizing a strong relationship between buildings and their physical surroundings. Dr. Anders Birger Bohlin (26 March 1898 – 28 November 1990) was a Swedish palaeontologist. As well as his work on dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals, Bohlin was part of the group that established the existence of Peking Man ''(Sinanthropus pekinensis)''. Ella Elin Nikolina Bohlin (born 1979) is a Christian Democratic politician in Sweden. Early life and education Bohlin was born in Jönköping. She has a B.A. in political science and has worked as a spinning instructor. Political career Bohlin was the leader of the Christian Democratic Youth League of Sweden between 2005 and 2008. She was her party's top candidate in the 2009 elections to the European Parliament, but was not elected because Alf Svensson, the former party leader, received more individual votes and took the party's single seat. Folke Bohlin (musicologist)
Folke Bohlin (born 1931, in Uppsala) is a Swedish musicologist and choral conductor. His chief area of research is Swedish church music, particularly that after the Reformation, and he is a former Professor emeritus of musicology at Lund University. Biography Prior to his formal music education, Bohlin founded Uppsala Akademiska Kammarkör in 1957. From 1957-1968 Bohlin was first repetiteur and later assistant conductor of Orphei Drängar. Bohlin first earned a degree in theology in 1960. He also studied musicology under Carl-Allan Moberg and Ingmar Bengtsson at Uppsala University, graduating with his doctorate in 1970. His doctoral dissertation utilized his former background as he wrote on liturgical song in Swedish churches in the 18th and 19th centuries. After his graduate studies, Bohlin became a reader at Lund University in 1970 and was appointed a lecturer there the following year. Kjell Bohlin
Kjell Gotfred Bohlin (27 September 1928 – 17 June 2011) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He was born in Røros. He was elected to the Parliament of Norway from Telemark in 1977, and was re-elected on two occasions. He had previously served as a deputy representative from 1969 to 1973. On the local level Bohlin was deputy mayor of Bamble municipality from 1963 to 1970, and then mayor from 1971 to 1981. He returned as a municipality council member from 2003 to 2007. From 1967 to 1981 he was also involved in county politics in Telemark, serving as deputy county mayor from 1975 to 1981. His political career ended with the position of County Governor of Telemark, which he held from 1989 to 1998, having been appointed in 1987. Nils Bohlin
Nils Ivar Bohlin (17 July 1920 – 21 September 2002) was a Swedish mechanical engineer and inventor who invented the three-point safety belt while working at Volvo. Biography Born in Härnösand, Sweden, Bohlin received a diploma in mechanical engineering from Härnösand Läroverk in 1939. In 1942 he started working for the aircraft maker Saab as an aircraft designer and helped develop ejection seats. In 1958 he joined Volvo as a safety engineer. He is credited with the invention of the modern three-point safety belt, now a standard safety feature in all cars. Bohlin worked on the seat belt for about a year, using skills in developing ejection seats for SAAB; he concentrated on keeping the driver safe in a car accident. After testing the three-point safety belt, he introduced his invention to the Volvo company in 1959 and received his first patent (number 3,043,625). Peter Q. Bohlin (born 1937 in New York City, United States) is an American architect and the winner of the 2010 Gold Medal of the American Institute of Architects. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) and a founding principal of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, established originally in 1965 as Bohlin Powell in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Bohlin Cywinski Jackson has six offices in Wilkes-Barre, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle, San Francisco, and New York City.
