''Bohemian Rapture'' or ''The Violin and the Dream'' ( cs, Housle a sen) is a 1947 Czech historical drama film directed by Václav Krška and starring Jaromír Spal, Václav Voska and Karel Dostal. The film portrays the life of the Czech violinist Josef Slavík, a contemporary of Frédéric Chopin, and a rival of Niccolò Paganini. Václav Krška
Václav Krška (7 October 1900 – 17 November 1969) was a Czech film director, screenwriter and writer. Life Krška was born in Písek on 7 October 1900 as the only child. His father was a butcher and innkeeper, but died soon after his birth. His mother married a mill owner, so Krška grew up in a mill in Heřmaň. After his step-father and mother died, he was managing the mill until 1937. In his youth he founded an amateur theatre for which he wrote, acted and directed. He also wrote poems, short stories and novels. Krška made his first movie ''Fiery Summer'' in 1939, based on the novel he wrote. He was a homosexual, as were his frequent collaborators František Čáp and Eduard Cupák. During the Nazi occupation he was sentenced to 5 months in prison for homosexual relations. A flashback (sometimes called an analepsis) is an interjected scene that takes the narrative back in time from the current point in the story. Flashbacks are often used to recount events that happened before the story's primary sequence of events to fill in crucial backstory. Zvonimir Rogoz (10 October 1887 – 6 February 1988) was a Croatian actor who played in German, Croatian, Slovenian, Czech and Slovakian, on stage and in cinema, during a career long 81 years. A native of Zagreb, Rogoz started his actor's career in Vienna in Wiener Theater. From 1919 to 1929 he was actor and director in Ljubljana. Rogoz became famous in Czechoslovakia as a guest in title roles when Ljubljana theater in 1927 played in Prague Shakespeare's ''Hamlet'' and Dostoevsky's ''Idiot''. Rogoz remained in engagement in National Theatre in Prague from 1929 till 1949.
