Bogdanov Affair
The Bogdanov affair was an academic dispute regarding the legitimacy of a series of theoretical physics papers written by French twins Igor and Grichka Bogdanoff, Igor and Grichka Bogdanov (alternatively spelled ''Bogdanoff''). The papers were published in reputable scientific journals, and were alleged by their authors to culminate in a theory for describing what occurred before and at the Big Bang. The controversy began in 2002, with an allegation that the twins, popular celebrities in France for hosting science-themed TV shows, had obtained PhDs with nonsensical work. Rumors spread on Usenet newsgroups that their work was a deliberate hoax intended to target weaknesses in the peer review system that physics journals use to select papers for publication. Alexander Bogdanov
Alexander Aleksandrovich Bogdanov (russian: Алекса́ндр Алекса́ндрович Богда́нов; – 7 April 1928), born Alexander Malinovsky, was a Russian and later Soviet physician, philosopher, science fiction writer, and Bolshevik revolutionary. He was a key figure in the early history of the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party (later the Communist Party of the Soviet Union), originally established 1898, and of its Bolshevik faction. Bogdanov co-founded the Bolsheviks in 1903, when they split with the Menshevik faction. He was a rival within the Bolsheviks to Vladimir Lenin (1870–1924), until being expelled in 1909 and founding his own faction Vpered. He is best known for his work on ''Power Pack'' and '' Superman: The Man of Steel'', as well as for creating the character Steel with writer Louise Simonson in 1993. Career Comics After attending the School of Visual Arts, Jon Bogdanove's first work for Marvel Comics was ''Alpha Flight'' #32 (March 1986). Semyon Ilyich Bogdanov (russian: Семён Ильи́ч Богда́нов; – 12 March 1960) was a Soviet Marshal of tank forces, and twice Hero of the Soviet Union. Following the German invasion of the Soviet Union, he was deputy commander of the 5th Army (1941–1942), commander of the 6th Mechanized Corps (1942–1943), and later commander of the 2nd Tank Army, which transformed into the 2nd Guards Tank Army in November 1944. Abraham Jacob Bogdanove (September 2, 1888 – August 1946) was an American artist, mural painter, and teacher best known for his seascape paintings of the Maine coast, particularly around Monhegan Island. Michael Bogdanov (15 December 1938 – 16 April 2017) was a British theatre director known for his work with new plays, modern reinterpretations of Shakespeare, musicals and work for young people. Early years Bogdanov was born Michael Bogdin in Neath, Glamorgan, of a Jewish father (Francis Benzion Bogdin) and a Welsh mother (Rhoda Rees). Nikolay Petrovich Bogdanov-Belsky (russian: Никола́й Петро́вич Богда́нов-Бе́льский; 1868–1945) was a Russian painter. Life Bogdanov-Belsky was born in the village of Shitiki in Smolensk Governorate in 1868. Andrei Ivanovich Bogdanov (russian: Андрей Иванович Богданов; 1692 – September 11, 1766) was one of the first Russian bibliographers and ethnographers.
