Addeke Hendrik Boerma
Addeke Hendrik Boerma (3 April 1912 8 May 1992) was a Dutch civil servant who served as the first Executive Director of the World Food Programme from 1962–1967 and as the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization from 1967 until December 1975. Early life and education Boerma was born in Annerveenschekanaal on 3 April 1912 in a farming family. He went to school in Veendam. From 1929 to 1934, Boerma studied horticulture and agricultural economics at the Wageningen University and Research. Career After university, Boerma became a government commissioner for arable farming and animal husbandry and, in 1938, went to work for the National Agency for Wartime Food Supply on preparations for food supply in the Netherlands in wartime. In October 1944, he went to the already liberated south of the Netherlands to prepare the food supply and the sending of relief supplies. Anthonius Cornelis Boerma
Antonius Cornelis Boerma (17 August 1852, in Leiden – 26 August 1908, in Ede, Gelderland) was a Dutch architect. Raised in Leiden, he spent most of his life in Amsterdam. In Amsterdam designed the Huis met de Kabouters, the Lutkie & Smit building on Nieuwendijk, the Bestelhuis van den Boekhandel on Spuistraat, the Café 'De Bisschop' on the corner of the Damrak, and he co-designed the Veemarkt in Cruquiuseiland Cruquiuseiland (English: Cruquius Island) is a suburb the Eastern Docklands in the Zeeburg district of Amsterdam. Scott Boerma
Scott Boerma (born 1964) is a composer of contemporary classical music, an arranger of music for marching ensembles, and the Director of Bands at Western Michigan University. Biography Before joining the Western Michigan faculty, Boerma was Associate Director of Bands, Director of the Michigan Marching Band, and the Donald R. Shepherd Associate Professor of Conducting at the University of Michigan. Before those positions, Boerma was Director of Bands at Eastern Michigan University, and he began his career teaching music in the Michigan public schools at Novi and Lamphere High Schools. Boerma earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in wind conducting at Michigan State University and his Master of Music degree in music education at the University of Michigan, where he also studied composition with Pulitzer-Prize winning composer William Bolcom.
