Boeny Region
Boeny is a region in northwestern Madagascar. It borders Sofia Region to the northeast, Betsiboka to the south and Melaky to the southwest. The capital of the region is Mahajanga, and the population was 931,171 in 2018. The area of Boeny is . Mahajanga
Mahajanga (French: Majunga) is a city and an administrative district on the northwest coast of Madagascar. The city of Mahajanga (Mahajanga I) is the capital of the Boeny Region. The district (identical to the city) had a population of 220,629 in 2013. Mahajanga is a tourist destination for Malagasy tourists and international travelers, with beaches, a coconut-lined boardwalk ("Le Bord", short for "Bord de la mer" or sea-side), and eight months of hot, virtually rain-free weather. City Mahajanga is a seaport, the second most important one in Madagascar after Toamasina. The marine terminal accommodates containerships and small (150 gross ton) general cargo freighters. Boina Kingdom
The Kingdom of Boina (sometimes known as Iboina) was a traditional state situated in what is now Madagascar. History The kingdom was founded c. 1690 by King Andriamandisoarivo. Andrimandisoarivo was a son of Lahifotsy, the founder of the Sakalava Kingdom, and had that kingdom after a succession dispute for the north, where he founded his own kingdom. It was centered on Boina Bay in north-west Madagascar. By the 1690s about 500 European pirates had set up bases of operation along the northern coast of Madagascar. Andrianamboniarivo had as his chief minister for a time Tom Similaho whose father was an English pirate and whose mother was a Malagasy woman. Some time after 1832 it was occupied by Imerina and was annexed by Madagascar in 1840. The last ruler of this kingdom was Queen Tsiomeko. Baie De Baly National Park
Baie de Baly National Park is a National Park in Madagascar. Geography Baie de Baly National Park or Baly Bay National Park is situated in the region of Boeny, District of Soalala, close to Soalala and Ambohipaky, approximately to the next major city Mahajanga. The Tsingy de Namoroka National Park borders this park. Vegetation consist of dry deciduous forests, scrub-shrub or bamboo shrub, mangroves, lakes and swamps mixed with savanna. Ankarafantsika National Park
Ankarafantsika National Park is a national park near Andranofasika in the Boeny Region of Madagascar. The closest city is Majunga north of the park. Ankarafantsika is mostly tropical in climate type. The Sakalava people are the predominant ethnic group living and farming here. The greater big-footed mouse (''Macrotarsomys ingens'') lives in the park and is not known anywhere else. Originally there were two parks on either side of Route 4 national road, but they were combined in 2002. Mahavavy-Kinkony
The Mahavavy-Kinkony Reserve is a protected area consisting principally of dry deciduous forest and wetlands in the western part of Madagascar. It owes its name to the Mahavavy Sud River and Lake Kinkony. Nine primate species, 30 fish species, 37 reptile and amphibian species, 133 bird species have been recorded on the wildlife diversity.
