Bodil Award For Best Danish Film
The Bodil Award for Best Danish Film ( da, Bodilprisen for bedste danske film) is one of the categories for the Bodil Awards presented annually by the Danish Film Critics Association. It was created in 1948 and is one of the oldest film prizes in Europe. The jury can decide not to give out the award if no deserving films are submitted. This has occurred once, in 1974. More than one film also can receive the award in a single year, as occurred in 1955. Bodil Awards
The Bodil Awards are the major Danish film awards given by the Danish Film Critics Association. The awards are presented annually at a ceremony in Copenhagen. Established in 1948, it is one of the oldest film awards in Europe. The awards are given without regard to commercial interests or box-office sales, but rather to highlight the films or actors that the critics regard as most worthy. The name of the award honours two of the most important actresses in Danish cinema, Bodil Kjer and Bodil Ipsen. The statuette is made of porcelain, and was designed by Danish artist and sculpted by Svend Jespersen of Bing & Grøndahl. Erik Balling
Erik Balling (29 November 1924 – 19 November 2005) was a Danish TV and film director. He created two of Denmark's most popular TV-series, ''Matador'' and '' Huset på Christianshavn''. His feature film '' Qivitoq'' (1956) was nominated for a Golden Palm at the 1957 Cannes Film Festival, and for an Oscar as Best Foreign Language Film. His 1962 film ''Den kære familie'' was entered into the 3rd Moscow International Film Festival. Together with Henning Bahs, he also created the hugely popular series of ''Olsen Gang'' feature films. Biography Balling started working for the largest and oldest Danish film production company, Nordisk Films Kompagni, in 1946. He later became the boss of the company. Annelise Hovmand
Annelise Mathilde Hovmand (17 September 1924 – 28 December 2016) was a Danish film director, screenwriter and film producer. She directed 12 films between 1955 and 1991. Her 1957 film ''Ingen tid til kærtegn'' won the Bodil Award for Best Danish Film and was entered into the 7th Berlin International Film Festival. Hovmand died on 28 December 2016 at the age of 92. The 9th Bodil Awards was held 26 April 1956 in Copenhagen, Denmark, honouring the best in Danish and foreign film of 1955. The evening started with a preview screening of Alexander Mackendrick's '' The Ladykillers''. American actor Fess Parker was guest and performed on stage in leather jacket and fur hat songs from ''Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier''. Sven Methling
Sven Johan Methling (or Sven Methling Jr.) (20 September 1918 – August 7, 2005) was a Danish film director and screenwriter. The son of actor and film director Svend Methling, Methling Jr. was best known for a series of light-hearted comedies.
