Charles Boddam
Charles Boddam (1762–1811) was born in India, the son of Rawson Hart Boddam. He joined the East India Company as a writer in 1780. In 1793, Boddam was appointed to Saran district as Judge of Diwani Adawlut and Magistrate. He died at Fort William, India on 13 August 1811. Between April 1794 and April 1806 he lived in an impressive neo-classical house in Chhapra, Bihar. A watercolour of the house, belonging to about 1810, is preserved in the British Library, number Add.Or.3203. Boddam was a scholar of Persian and made a translation of the ''Rāmāyaṇa'' from Persian, the latter in turn prepared from the Sanskrit in about 1794 by Anand G'yan, a Professor at the Benares Sanskrit College. The English translation is preserved among Boddam's papers in the British Library. Edmond Boddam (23 November 1879 – 9 September 1959) was an Australian cricketer. He played five first-class matches for Tasmania between 1910 and 1914. Boddam, Aberdeenshire
Boddam is a coastal village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is north of Aberdeen and south of Peterhead. The settlement of Stirling Village lies immediately to the west. Sea cliffs rise to , south of the village: a coastal path leads along these to the Bullers of Buchan. History There is vicinity evidence of prehistoric man, particularly slightly to the southwest of Boddam where a number of prehistoric monuments including Catto Long Barrow, Silver Cairn and many tumuli are found. In that same vicinity of the Laeca Burn watershed is the point d'appui of historic battles between invading Danes and indigenous Picts. Boddam is a village on the island of Mainland, in Shetland, Scotland. Boddam is an area of Dunrossness in the South Mainland of Shetland. Salomon Islands
The Salomon Islands or Salomon Atoll is a small atoll of the Chagos Archipelago, British Indian Ocean Territory. Description The atoll is located in the northeast of the Chagos Archipelago, between Blenheim Reef and Peros Banhos. The main islands in the group are Île Boddam, with the former main settlement, and a land area of , and Île Anglaise (), both on the western rim of the reef. There were smaller settlements of Chagossians in Fouquet () and Takamaka () Islands. Île de la Passe is in area, and Île Mapou . The remaining islets are much smaller. The total land area is . Boddam (1787 EIC Ship)
''Boddam'' was built by William Barnard at Barnard's Thames Yard at Deptford and was launched on 27 December 1787 on the River Thames. She made six voyages as an East Indiaman for the British East India Company (EIC). Her fourth voyage (in 1796–1798) was particularly notable as she participated in an encounter between six Indiamen and six French frigates in which the Indiamen succeeded in bluffing the French into withdrawing. During that voyage she also survived several typhoons. Her owners sold her in 1803 and her subsequent deployment and fate is currently unknown. Career EIC voyage #1 (1788–1789): Captain Joseph Elliott sailed from Portsmouth on 5 April 1788, bound for Madras and China.
