Bobsleigh At The 2022 Winter Olympics – Four-man
The four-man competition in bobsleigh at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 19 February (heats 1 and 2) and 20 February (heats 3 and 4), at the Xiaohaituo Bobsleigh and Luge Track in Yanqing District of Beijing. Francesco Friedrich, Thorsten Margis, Candy Bauer, and Alexander Schüller of Germany won the gold medal, and Friedrich thereby successfully defended his 2018 Olympic title. Germany-2 driven by Johannes Lochner won the silver medal, and Canada-1, driven by Justin Kripps, won the bronze. There were two silver medals awarded in 2018. Nico Walther with Germany-2 retired from competitions, but Won Yun-jong with South Korea qualified for the Olympics. Friedrich is the 2021 World champion. Benjamin Maier and Austria is the silver medalist, and Lochner and Germany-2 are the bronze medalists. Bobsleigh or bobsled is a team winter sport that involves making timed runs down narrow, twisting, banked, iced tracks in a gravity-powered sleigh. International bobsleigh competitions are governed by the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation, also known as FIBT from the French . Bobsleigh At The 2022 Winter Olympics
Bobsleigh at the 2022 Winter Olympics has been held at the Xiaohaituo Bobsleigh and Luge Track which is one of the Yanqing cluster venues. A total of four bobsleigh events were held, between 4 and 20 February 2022. In July 2018, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) officially added the women's monobob event to the program, increasing the total number of events to four. The IOC also transferred six quotas from the men's events to the women's. The quota limit of 170 athletes remained the same from the 2018 Winter Olympics. A total of four events have been contested, two each for men and women. Qualification A maximum of 170 quota spots will be available to athletes to compete at the games (124 men and 46 women). Christoph Hafer (born 14 April 1992) is a German bobsledder. Career Hafer started with the sport of luge on the Königssee bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track at the age of nine. In 2010, he switched to bobsleigh and has been part of the German national team since 2014. Hafer starts for BC Bad Feilnbach and Eintracht Wiesbaden. He is coached by Thomas Prange. The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF), originally known by the French name ''Fédération Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing'' (FIBT), is the international sports federation for bobsleigh and skeleton. It acts as an umbrella organization for 14 national bobsleigh and skeleton associations . It was founded on 23 November 1923 by the delegates of Great Britain, France, Switzerland, Canada, and the United States at the meeting of their first International Congress in Paris, France. The 2021 IBSF World Championships was held in Altenberg, Germany from 5 to 14 February 2021. They were originally awarded to Lake Placid but were moved because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Won Yun-jong
Won Yun-jong (born 17 June 1985) is a South Korean bobsledder. Won competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for South Korea. He teamed with brakeman Seo Young-woo in the South Korea-1 sled in the two-man event, finishing 18th, and with Seo, Jun Jung-lin and Suk Young-ji in the four-man, finishing 20th. As of 2017, his best showing at the World Championships is 5th, in the two-man event in 2015. Won made his World Cup debut in December 2010. As of 2017, his best World Cup finish is 1st, in 2015-16 at Whistler and Konigssee, Germany. He was the overall champion of the 2015-16 season for the two-man category.
