Eric Vicomte De Spoelberch
Éric Antoine Ghislain Joseph, Viscount de Spoelberch (15 February 1903 – 17 January 1939) was a Belgian pilot. He was born in Brussels and died in Nivelles. Family He was son of Guillaume de Spoelberch (1874–1947) and Colienne de Neufforge (1882–1929). He married Katharine Kelso Stewart 28 April 1932, in Haverford; Katherine's mother was Elsie Foster Cassatt (1875–1931), a sportswoman from a prominent Pennsylvania family, niece of artist Mary Cassatt and great-niece of president James Buchanan. The couple had two sons, Guillaume and Jacques de Spoelberch. Career As a lieutenant in the Aéronautique Militaire he was one of two Belgian pilots sent to Britain to evaluate the Hawker Hurricane and the Supermarine Spitfire. Alexandru Frimu
Alexandru "Dudu" Frim (9 March 1908 – 2 December 1985) was a Romanian bobsledder who competed in the 1930s. He won the gold medal in the two-man event at the 1934 FIBT World Championships. He also finished 15th in the two-man event at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Frim was also an aviator, earning his pilot license in 1931. Frim also won the Grand Prix of Sports Aviation and Cup of Brasov Aero-Club in 1939. Background The ‘de Suarez’ name originates from the Spanish aristocracy whilst the ‘d’Aulan’ (of Aulan) name originates from the French family seat of that name which is attached to the titles of Marquis and Count. Antonio Brivio (Sometimes shown as Marchese Sforza Brivio; 30 January 1905, in Biella, Vercelli, Italy – 29 January 1995) was an Italian bobsledder and racing driver. Auto racing career Among his greatest successes in the field of sports cars include a victory in the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps (1932), two victories in the Targa Florio (1933 and 1935) and a win at the Mille Miglia (1936). His greatest success in Grand Prix races were a third place in the Monaco Grand Prix in 1935 and German Grand Prix in 1936. He stopped racing after winning Mille Miglia in his own category in 1952. After the Second World War, he was Motorsport functionary, he became a member of the Italian Automobile Club and the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), where he participated in the launch of the Formula 1 World Championship. Edgardo Vaghi (30 June 1915 – 9 December 1986) was an Italian bobsledder who competed in the late 1930s. He later fought for Italy in the Aeronautica Nazionale Repubblicana during World War II over Greece and the Soviet Union. Prior to both careers, he competed in auto racing. Auto racing career In 1935, Vaghi was Class II champion in the touring car event from Milan to Sanremo, San Remo.
