Bobby Skafish ( ) is a long-time radio personality in the Chicago area. Career * 1976–1983 WXRT * 1983–1993 WLUP * 1993–1994 WKQX * 1994–2006 WXRT * 2007–2015 WDRV Background Bobby Skafish who grew up in Hammond, Indiana, majored in Telecommunications at Indiana University and worked at WIUS, now WIUX, the college radio station. In January 2007, Bobby Skafish launched an internet radio station broadcast by Live365. In June 2007, Skafish joined the air staff of WDRV Chicago (97.1fm Chicago, WWDV 96.9fm Zion). In August 2007, Bobby Skafish was promoted to weekday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at WDRV-FM 97.1. In June 2015, he was terminated by WDRV. WXRT (93.1 FM), also known as XRT and 93-XRT is an adult album alternative (AAA) radio station in Chicago, Illinois. For many years, their slogan has been "Chicago's Finest Rock". "Chicago's Home For Music Lovers" has been used as its slogan since fall 2017. The station broadcasts from a transmitter atop John Hancock Center and its studios are located at Two Prudential Plaza near Chicago's Millennium Park. WXRT broadcasts in the HD Radio format. WCKL (97.9 FM) is a non-commercial radio station licensed to Chicago, Illinois, featuring a Christian contemporary format via the K-Love network. Owned and operated by Educational Media Foundation (EMF), WCKL serves the Chicago metro area with a transmitter located atop the John Hancock Center. WIUX
WIUX-LP (99.1 FM) is a student-operated low power FM college radio station in Bloomington, Indiana, United States. The station is owned by Indiana University Student Broadcasting with the slogan 'Pure Student Radio'. Operation WIUX is completely operated by student volunteers currently enrolled at Indiana University. There are no paid employees or faculty supervisors. It has two broadcast streams, one traditional stream that is duel broadcast on their LP-FM 99.1 as well as online, and the other steam called 'B-Side' is online only. Skafish is an American, Chicago-based punk band, fronted by Jim Skafish, cousin of Chicago area DJ Bobby Skafish. The band was formed in 1976 and had their first performance that November. In 1977, ''Billboard'' magazine printed a review of the band's performance as the opening act for Sha Na Na at Chicago's Arie Crown Theater. Finding Skafish to be a "peculiar appetizer for the straight, conservative crowd" that Sha Na Na attracted, the reviewer stated that " rge numbers retreated to the lobby halfway through Skafish's set, while others approached the stage, threatening with missiles, gestures and denunciations."
