Bobby Schilling
Robert Todd Schilling (January 23, 1964 – April 6, 2021) was an American businessman and politician who served as a U.S. Representative for from 2011 to 2013. Schilling was a member of the Republican Party. Schilling challenged incumbent Democrat Phil Hare in the 2010 election and defeated him by ten points. In the 2012 election, he was defeated by Democrat Cheri Bustos. In 2014, he ran for his former seat but lost again to Bustos. After relocating from Illinois to Iowa, he again ran for public office in 2020 for Iowa's 2nd congressional district. He lost the Republican primary to state senator Mariannette Miller-Meeks, ending his political career. Illinois's 17th Congressional District Election, 2010
The 2010 Illinois's 17th congressional district election was held on November 2, 2010 to determine who would represent Illinois's 17th District in the 112th United States Congress. The seat contested was located in western and parts of central Illinois. Democratic incumbent Phil Hare had held the seat since 2006 and was running for re-election. The Republican nominee was Bobby Schilling. The Green Party nominee was Roger K. Davis. Schilling won the election in an upset with almost 53% of the vote. Race Background Hare was elected in 2006 with 57% of the vote and was unopposed in United States elections, 2008. Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher (; born December 3, 1973), commonly known as "Joe the Plumber", is an American conservative activist and commentator.
