Bobby Ray Parks Jr.
Bobby Ray Barbosa Parks Jr. (born February 19, 1993) is a Filipino-American professional basketball player for Nagoya Diamond Dolphins of the Japanese B.League. A 6'4" Guard (basketball), guard, he played college basketball for the NU Bulldogs for three years before declaring for the NBA draft in 2015 where he went undrafted. Early life and high school career Parks was born in Parañaque, Metro Manila to Bobby Parks Sr. and Marifer Celine Barbosa. His father was playing basketball in the Philippines. Parks Sr. had been drafted 58th overall in the third round of the 1984 NBA draft and went on to become a seven-time Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Bobby Parks PBA Best Import of the Conference Award, Best Import awardee and PBA Hall of Fame, Hall of Famer. The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. 2017–18 ABL Season
The 2017–18 ABL season is the eighth season of competition of the ASEAN Basketball League. The regular season started on 17 November 2017 and ended on 28 March 2018. Teams Five teams from the 2016–2017 ABL season returned for this season. One team, the Kaohsiung Truth, disbanded prior to the season. One team, Mono Vampire, returned after skipping last season, having played in the 2015–16 ABL season. The team plans to concurrently play in the ABL and in the Thailand Basketball League for the upcoming season. Three teams were accepted as new members: Nanhai Long-Lions, Formosa Dreamers and CLS Knights Surabaya. The Long-Lions are the developmental team of the Guangzhou Long-Lions, the Dreamers are an expansion team from Taiwan, and the Knights left the Indonesian Basketball League to play in the ABL. Basketball At The 2011 Southeast Asian Games
The basketball tournament at the 2011 Southeast Asian Games took place from 14 to 20 November 2011. This edition of the tournament featured both men's and women's tournament. All matches took place at Kelapa Gading Sports Mall in Jakarta. Men's tournament ''All times are Western Indonesian Time (WIB) – UTC+7.'' The Philippines, which sent an all-amateur team, topped Group A by beating Thailand 103–69 to give the Thais their first loss in the tournament, although both teams qualified to the semifinals. On Group B, hosts Indonesia eliminated Singapore from contention by five points, to top the group. In the semifinals, Malaysia trailed by three points at halftime, but the Philippines pulled away at the second half to secure a berth for the gold medal game. 2011 Southeast Asian Games
The 2011 Southeast Asian Games, ( id, Pesta Olahraga Asia Tenggara 2011) officially known as the 26th Southeast Asian Games, or the 26th SEA Games, and commonly known as Jakarta-Palembang 2011, was a Southeast Asian multi-sport event held from 11 to 22 November 2011 in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. It was Indonesia's fourth time to host the Southeast Asian Games, and its first since 1997. Previously, Indonesia also hosted in 1979 and 1987. The capital city of Jakarta hosted all three of the previous Games prior to this. Palembang became the third SEA Games non-capital host city, after Chiang Mai (1995) and Nakhon Ratchasima (2007), both in Thailand. 2015 SEABA Championship
The 11th Southeast Asia Basketball Association Championship was the qualifying tournament for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship. It also served as a regional championship involving Southeast Asian basketball teams. It was held on 27 April to 1 May 2015 in Singapore. The three best teams at the end of the single round-robin tournament qualified for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship which was held in Changsha, Hunan, China from 23 September to 3 October 2015. As early as Day 4, the Philippines, Malaysia and tournament host Singapore have secured the three slots for the Asian Championships. The Philippines, who sent an all-amateur team with one naturalized player in Marcus Douthit, won their seventh title of the tournament without losing a single game. The basketball tournaments of UAAP Season 76 were held in school year 2013-14. Adamson University was both season host and basketball tournaments host. As season host, Adamson was the producer of the opening ceremony on June 29, 2013. As to being tournament host, Adamson was responsible for the scheduling of games, booking of game venues and distribution of game tickets to member schools. The other responsibility of Adamson as tournament host was the nomination of a basketball tournament commissioner to the UAAP Board for approval. UAAP Season 75 Basketball Tournaments
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 75 basketball tournaments are the basketball events of UAAP's 2012-13 season. National University is the host this season. The opening ceremony was held on July 14, 2012, followed by doubleheader basketball games after the ceremonies at the Mall of Asia Arena. The UAAP named former San Beda Red Cubs head coach Ato Badolato as commissioner for basketball. Badolato also served as basketball commissioner for UAAP Season 73. The University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 74 basketball tournaments are the basketball events of UAAP's 2011-12 season. Ateneo de Manila University was the season host. The season started with an Olympic-style opening ceremony on July 9, 2011 and followed by a doubleheader basketball games on July 10 at the Araneta Coliseum. The UAAP named former Philippine Basketball League (PBL) commissioner, current Rain or Shine Elasto Painters team consultant and Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) TV commentator Andy Jao as commissioner for basketball. Jao is considering on recommending to the UAAP board on hiring referees from the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP). The game schedules were changed.
