Bobby Kirk (footballer)
Robert "Bobby" Kirk (12 August 1927 – 1 February 2010) was a Scottish footballer best known for winning five senior trophies with Heart of Midlothian in the late 1950s and early 60s. He also played for Dunfermline Athletic and Raith Rovers. Dunfermline Athletic Kirk was born in Arniston in Midlothian and played for various school and youth teams before joining his home town team, Arniston Rangers. He was their first player to selected to for the Scottish junior team thus attracting senior club attention. Aged 20, Dunfermline Athletic signed him in Autumn 1947. He was initially a £40 provisional signing continuing to play for Arniston. In January 1948 he was then called up to East End Park where he debuted for the Dunfermline first team the subsequent March. He made 180 first team appearances scoring 12 goals including collecting a runners-up medal in the October 1949 Scottish League Cup final defeat to Scot Symon's East Fife. George Thomson (footballer, Born 1936)
George Matthewson Thomson (19 October 1936 – July 2007) was a Scottish professional footballer who played for Heart of Midlothian, Everton and Brentford as a utility player. He was capped by Scotland at schoolboy and U23 levels and made two appearances for the Scottish League XI. Career Heart of Midlothian Thomson began his career with Edinburgh City and joined Scottish League club Heart of Midlothian in April 1953. He had to wait until February 1957 to make his debut, which came in a 1–1 First Division draw with Falkirk. He went on to make six further appearances during the 1956–57 season and was thereafter a regular in the team until his departure in November 1960. He was a fixture in Hearts' 1957–58 and 1959–60 First Division title-winning teams and featured as an ever-present in the latter triumph. Dave Mackay
David Craig Mackay (14 November 1934 – 2 March 2015) was a Scottish football player and manager. Mackay was best known for a highly successful playing career with Heart of Midlothian, the Double-winning Tottenham Hotspur side of 1961, and winning the league with Derby County as a manager. He also represented Scotland 22 times, and was selected for their 1958 FIFA World Cup squad. Mackay tied with Tony Book of Manchester City for the Football Writers' Association's Footballer of the Year award in 1969 and was later listed by the Football League in their " 100 Legends", as well as being an inaugural inductee to both the English and Scottish Football Halls of Fame. Partick Thistle Football Club are a professional association football, football club from Glasgow, Scotland. Despite their name, the club are based at Firhill Stadium in the Maryhill area of the city, and have not played in Partick since 1908. Scottish Football Champions
The Scottish football champions are the winners of the highest league in Scottish football, namely the Scottish Football League (SFL) from 1890 until 1998, the Scottish Premier League (SPL) from 1998 until 2013 and the Scottish Premiership thereafter. The SFL was established in 1890, initially as an amateur league until professionalism in Scottish football was legalised in 1893. At the end of the first season Dumbarton and Rangers finished level on points at the top of the table. James Murray (4 February 1933 – 10 July 2015) was a Scottish footballer. He played as an inside right for Heart of Midlothian and Scotland in the 1950s and early 1960s. Murray made his first Scotland appearance in a 4–0 defeat to England at Hampden on 19 April 1958. He scored Scotland's first-ever goal in a World Cup finals match, in a 1–1 draw against Yugoslavia in 1958.
