Bobby Ham
Robert Stanley Ham (born 29 March 1942) is an English retired football player and manager who played for Bradford Park Avenue, Gainsborough Trinity, Bradford City, Preston and Rotherham. He also managed Gainsborough, Matlock and Guiseley. Speedway Ham was the promoter of the Bradford Dukes motorcycle speedway team with his brother Alan. Bradford is a city and the administrative centre of the City of Bradford district in West Yorkshire, England. The city is in the Pennines' eastern foothills on the banks of the Bradford Beck. British Speedway Championship
The British Speedway Championship is an annual motorcycle speedway competition open to British national speedway riders. The winner of the event becomes the British Speedway Champion. History Inaugurated in 1961 as a qualifying round of the Speedway World Championship it was open to riders from Britain and the British dominions. It was initially dominated by riders from New Zealand such as Barry Briggs and Ivan Mauger because of the British Final forming part of the World Speedway championship qualifying rounds. Briggs and Mauger were multiple world champions. It was not until 1975 that the final was restricted to British riders. Countries such as Australia and New Zealand then held their own World Individual Speedway championship qualifying rounds. Joe Haines (speedway Rider)
Joseph Keir M. Haines (born 4 September 1991) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from England. Career history Born in Bolton, England, Haines started his speedway career in 2006 with the Cleveland Bears and then joined the Scunthorpe Scorpions in 2007 in the Conference League winning the League Championship, the Knockout Cup and the Conference Trophy in his first full season. Wolverhampton Wolves signed Haines just after his sixteenth birthday and immediately loaned him to the Workington Comets for the 2008 season. He also rode for the Boston Barracudas in the Conference League in 2008. He was part of the Workington four who won the Premier League Four-Team Championship, held on 26 July 2008, at Derwent Park. Joshua Liam Auty (born 8 September 1990) in Mirfield, West Yorkshire, is a British speedway rider. Career Auty was part of the Scunthorpe Scorpions team that won the Conference League Four-Team Championship, held on 18 May 2007 at Plymouth Coliseum. On 10 September 2007, Auty was signed to the Coventry Bees to ride in the Elite League. On 21 September 2007, Auty was selected to represent Great Britain for the 2007 Under 21-World Cup Final. Auty was Conference League Rider's championship runner up in 2007, held at Rye House, losing out to his Scunthorpe teammate Tai Woffinden. Speedway Grand Prix
Speedway Grand Prix are a series of stand-alone motorcycle speedway events over the course of a season used to determine the Speedway World Champion. The series started in 1995 replacing the previous format of a single event final. The first winner was Hans Nielsen of Denmark. Event format The format for a Grand Prix changed for the 2007 season onwards. Sixteen riders take part in each Grand Prix and over the course of twenty heats each rider will race against every other rider once. The top eight scorers advance to a semi-final and from each semi-final the 1st and 2nd placed riders will advance to the GP final.
