Bob Davis (American Football Coach)
Robert L. Davis (February 13, 1908 – January 10, 1965) was an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Colorado State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts—now known as Colorado State University—from 1947 to 1955. Davis was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and played his collegiate football at the University of Utah under Ike Armstrong. Quarterback and team captain in 1929, Davis lead Utah to the conference championship, graduating in 1930. He coached at South Salt Lake City High School, Weber Junior College, and was an assistant coach at the University of Utah and the University of Denver before being named as the head coach of football at Colorado A&M College on January 6, 1947. Davis utilized the T formation and veterans returning from World War II to turn around a 2–7 Aggies team in 1946 to an 8–2 team in 1948; placing second in the Skyline Conference. He is the former chief executive officer of Lycos, which he led since its inception and through its acquisition by Terra at the peak of the dot-com bubble. Early life and education Davis was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1956. At the age of 10, Davis sold newspapers at a street corner and sold from mail order catalogs as a teenager. Robert Lee Rayford (February 3, 1953 – May 15 1969), sometimes identified as Robert R. due to his age, was an American teenager from Missouri who has been suggested to represent the earliest confirmed case of HIV/AIDS in North America based on evidence which was published in 1988 in which the authors claimed that medical evidence indicated that he was "infected with a virus closely related or identical to human immunodeficiency virus type 1." Rayford died of pneumonia, but his other symptoms baffled the doctors who treated him. A study published in 1988 reported the detection of antibodies against HIV. Results of testing for HIV genetic material were reported once at a scientific conference in Australia in 1999; however, the data has never been published in a peer-reviewed medical or scientific journal. Bob Davis is an American sportscaster. He is best known for his work broadcasting Kansas City Royals baseball games as well as Kansas Jayhawks football and basketball games. Davis is known for his dramatic style and calling the Jayhawks' NCAA Tournament Championships in 1988 and 2008. Broadcasting career Bob Davis lived in Hays, Kansas and broadcast Fort Hays State University sports for radio station KAYS (AM) from 1968 to 1984 before becoming the play-by-play voice of the Kansas Jayhawks football and men's basketball teams, a position he held until 2016. In addition to his work on the KU broadcasts, Davis called Kansas City Royals baseball from 1997 to 2013. During his Royals tenure, he worked as the play-by-play analyst on television with Royals Hall of Fame pitcher Paul Splittorff for eleven years. Robert "Bob" Davis (12 June 1928 – 16 May 2011) was an Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Early life Bob Davis was born in Clunes and as a teenager he boarded and attended at Ballarat College. A keen South Melbourne supporter he attended a preseason training with the club but was told his services would not be necessary. He returned to Ballarat and played locally with Golden Point. He was spotted by Geelong recruiters and he was invited to try out with Geelong.
