Bobbie Traksel
Bobbie Traksel (born 3 November 1981 in Tiel) is a Dutch former professional racing cyclist. In 2000, Traksel showed considerable promise by winning the Under-23 version of the Tour of Flanders and turned professional in 2001 with . In 2002, Traksel's surprise win at the Veenendaal–Veenendaal showed his speed and bicycle smarts. But Traksel's achievements in 2008, highlighted by winning the Driedaagse van West-Vlaanderen garnered him wider respect in the cycling community. In 2010 he won Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne after a long breakaway. The race was heavily influenced by the weather. Many favourites retired from the race due to the cold weather, rain and wind. Traksel proved himself as a real fighter with this win. Traksel joined for the 2014 season, after his previous team – – folded at the end of the 2013 season. The Étoile de Bessèges () is an early-season five-day road bicycle racing stage race held annually around Bessèges, in the Gard department of the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. First organized in 1971 as a one-day race, it became a stage race run over five days in 1974. Ronde van Overijssel ( en, Tour of Overijssel) is an elite men's road bicycle racing event held annually in Overijssel, Netherlands and sanctioned by the Royal Dutch Cycling Union. The Olympia's Tour is a cycling stage race held in the Netherlands. History A.S.C. Olympia was founded in Amsterdam on 27 November 1898. It ran one-day races but wanted a race through all the Netherlands. The first Olympia's Tour was in 1909, with three stages and one rest day. The second in 1910 went to Maastricht and Groningen. It was 17 years before the third race, partly because races on public roads were forbidden in the Netherlands during the First World War. An international field with 16 Germans, the champions of Switzerland and Luxembourg and around 40 Dutch riders left the Rembrandtplein on 17 August 1927. The Dutch were mainly amateurs, the Germans sponsored riders who rode for bicycle manufacturers such as Opel and Diamant which provided material and a support team.
