"Bobbie Ann Mason" is a song written by Mark D. Sanders, and recorded by American country music artist Rick Trevino. It was released in May 1995 as the second single from the album ''Looking for the Light''. The song reached number 6 on both the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks and the Canadian ''RPM'' Country Tracks chart. Content The song is an uptempo, in which the narrator discusses his high school crush, Bobbie Ann Mason. Songwriter Mark Sanders has written that he was inspired to choose the name "Bobbie Ann Mason" for the character in the song because he loved the books ''In Country'' and ''Shiloh and Other Stories'' by the novelist Bobbie Ann Mason. Sanders wrote that he later received a phone call from Mason, and commented, "It turned out that she was a little put off that I used her name in the song, but I think she got over that." Ricardo Treviño Jr. (born May 16, 1971) is an American country music artist. Signed to Columbia Nashville in 1993, Trevino began his career that year with the release of his debut single "Just Enough Rope", the first mainstream country music single to feature separate English and Spanish versions. The song was included on his debut album ''Dos Mundos''; a self-titled album followed a year later. Trevino has charted a total of fourteen singles on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Songs chart and recorded seven studio albums. Paul V. Franklin (born May 31, 1954) is an American multi-instrumentalist, known mainly for his work as a steel guitarist. He began his career in the 1970s as a member of Barbara Mandrell's road band; in addition he toured with Vince Gill, Mel Tillis, Jerry Reed and Dire Straits. He has since become a prolific session musician in Nashville, playing on more than 500 albums. He has been named by the Academy of Country Music as Best Steel Guitarist on several occasions. John David Willis is an American guitarist and songwriter. He is best known for work as a session musician and as a songwriter for television and video games. Biography John Willis was raised in St. Martinville, Louisiana. At age 15, he learned to play banjo and then guitar. At age 22, Willis moved to Los Angeles, where he studied guitar at the Guitar Institute of Technology. Ryles recorded a string of hit country songs, beginning in 1968 when he was still a teenager, and continuing through the 1980s. Steven Jay Nathan is an American keyboardist. He is known for his session work in Muscle Shoals and Nashville studios. Biography Nathan was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. In 1977, Nathan moved to Muscle Shoals, Alabama. After touring with LeBlanc and Carr, he participated in the recording of Lenny LeBlanc’s first solo record. For the next 14 years, Steve played on records produced by Rick Hall at FAME Studios, often teaming with Roger Hawkins on drums and David Hood on bass.
