Robert Walker (4 July 1891 – 23 August 1965) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Buln Buln, Victoria
Buln Buln is a town in West Gippsland, approximately 8 kilometres north of Warragul. At the 2021 Census, Buln Buln had a population of 551. Etymology ''buln buln'' is the Woiwurrung–Taungurung word for the superb lyrebird. History The post office opened as Brandy Creek on 1 April 1873 and became Buln Buln in 1874 (closing in 1973). A Telegraph Office was opened in March 1877. The Buln Buln Railway Station was operational from 1890 to 1958, as part of the Noojee railway line. Today The town has an Australian rules football team competing in the Ellinbank & District Football League, the Buln Buln Lyrebirds, dating back at least to World War I. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Essendon Football Club
The Essendon Football Club, nicknamed the Bombers, is a professional Australian rules football club. The club plays in the Australian Football League (AFL), the game's premier competition. The club was formed by the McCracken family in their Ascot Vale, Victoria, Ascot Vale home "Alisa", and while the exact date is unknown, it is generally accepted to have been in 1872. The club’s first recorded game took place on 7 June 1873 against a Carlton Second 20. Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year.
