Bob Spessard
Robert Woods Spessard (December 11, 1915 – July 26, 1989) was an American basketball player known for his collegiate career at Washington and Lee University in the 1930s. He was a two-time NCAA All-American in 1937 and 1938 as well as a three-time first-team all-Southern Conference The Southern Conference (SoCon) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I. The center (C), or the centre, also known as the five or the pivot, is one of the five Basketball position, positions in a regulation basketball game. The center is normally the tallest player on the team, and often has a great deal of strength and body mass as well. In the NBA, the center is typically close to tall. Centers are valued for their ability to protect their own goal from high-percentage close attempts on defense, while scoring and rebounding with high efficiency on offense.
