Bob Scarpitto
Bob Scarpitto (born January 7, 1939) is an American former professional football punter and flanker who played in the American Football League (AFL) for the San Diego Chargers in 1961, for the Denver Broncos from 1962 through 1967, and then for the Boston Patriots in 1968. He was an AFL All-Star in 1966. Punter (gridiron Football)
A punter (P) in gridiron football is a special teams player who receives the snapped ball directly from the line of scrimmage and then punts (kicks) the football to the opposing team so as to limit any field position advantage. This generally happens on a fourth down in American football and a third down in Canadian football. Punters may also occasionally take part in fake punts in those same situations, when they throw or run the football instead of punting. Skills and usage The purpose of the punt is to force the team that is receiving the kick to start as far as possible from the kicking team's end zone. A touchdown (abbreviated as TD) is a scoring play in gridiron football. Whether running, passing, returning a kickoff or punt, or recovering a turnover, a team scores a touchdown by advancing the ball into the opponent's end zone. In American football, a touchdown is worth six points and is followed by an extra point or two-point conversion attempt.
