Bob Norris (footballer)
Robert Norris (12 March 1875 − 31 March 1940) was an English footballer who played as a left half with Blackpool, Nottingham Forest and Doncaster Rovers in the Football League. Club career Blackpool Norris appeared in Blackpool's first game in the Football League, a 3–1 defeat, on 5 September 1896, at Lincoln City's Sincil Bank. Nottingham Forest He moved to Nottingham Forest for the beginning of the 1898–99 season. Doncaster Rovers Signed by Doncaster Rovers in 1904 Norris went on to make 23 Football League and FA Cup appearances. Preston () is a city on the north bank of the River Ribble in Lancashire, England. Sincil Bank Stadium, known for sponsorship reasons as LNER Stadium, is a football stadium in Lincoln, England which has been the home of Lincoln City since 1895. Previously, Lincoln City had played at the nearby John O'Gaunts ground since the club's 1884 inception. The stadium has an overall capacity of 10,780 and is colloquially known to fans as "Sinny Bank". It is overlooked by Lincoln Cathedral. The Midland Football League was a semi-professional football league in England. It acted as a feeder league to the Football League for many years before merging with the Yorkshire League in 1982 to form the Northern Counties East League. History Founded in 1889, only one year after the Football League, the Midland League was the second league for professional clubs to be formed. The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League, the league is the oldest such competition in the world.
