Bob Merriman
Robert Frederick Merriman (born 22 August 1935) is a former Australian cricket official and local government mayor. Merriman played club cricket with Melbourne Cricket Club and Geelong Cricket Club. He was president of the Geelong Cricket Association from 1965 to 1976, the president of Cricket Victoria from 1997 to 2007 and Australia's delegate on the International Cricket Council's executive and ICC development international boards. He managed the Australian team to India in 1979 and became the Australian Cricket Board's first full-time manager from 1984 to 1986, which included tours to England, India, the United Arab Emirates and New Zealand. During this time he completed reading Kim Hughes' speech of resignation when the latter was unable to finish. From 2001 to 2005 he was chairman of Cricket Australia. The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) is a sports club based in Melbourne, Australia. It was founded in 1838 and is one of the oldest sports clubs in Australia. The MCC is responsible for management and development of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, a power given to it by the government-appointed MCG Trust and an Act of Parliament. Geelong Cricket Club
The Geelong Cricket Club was originally formed as a Sub-District side to keep the ‘VCA fires burning’, entering the VSDCA in 1964/65, before making its debut as an amalgamated side with North Melbourne Cricket Club in 1985/86. This joint venture lasted for three seasons before disbanding, with North Melbourne continuing in the association on its own. Geelong was re-admitted as a single entity prior to the 1993/94 season with Michael King as Club President, and former North Melbourne, St. Kilda, South Melbourne and Victorian Shield representative Peter Cox as the Inaugural First XI Captain. Cricket Victoria (CV) is the governing body for the sport of cricket in the Australian state of Victoria. It was formed on 29 September 1875 as the Victorian Cricket Association. Kim Hughes
Kimberley John Hughes (born 26 January 1954) is a former cricketer who played for Western Australia, Natal and Australia. He captained Australia in 28 Test matches between 1979 and 1984 before captaining a rebel Australian team in a tour of South Africa, a country which at the time was subject to a sporting boycott opposing apartheid. A right-handed batsman, Hughes was seen to possess an orthodox and attractive batting style. He was identified as a potential Test cricketer from an early age, but his impetuous style of batting, and personality clashes with influential teammates and opponents such as Dennis Lillee and Rod Marsh, saw a later introduction to first-class and Test cricket than anticipated.
