Bob McMath
Robert C. "Bob" McMath Jr. (born 1944) is a historian and former Dean of the Honors College of the University of Arkansas. He received his PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1972. From then until his appointment at the University of Arkansas in 2005, he taught history and held a series of administrative posts at Georgia Tech, except for 1996 when he was a Fulbright Lecturer in Italy. In August 2014, he retired from the University of Arkansas and is now Professor Emeritus of History and Dean Emeritus. Education McMath is a 1967 graduate of the University of North Texas. He received his PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1972. Georgia Institute Of Technology
The Georgia Institute of Technology, commonly referred to as Georgia Tech or, in the state of Georgia, as Tech or The Institute, is a public research university and institute of technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Cherry Logan Emerson (chemist)
Cherry Logan Emerson, Jr. (September 30, 1916 – April 29, 2007) was an American chemical engineer, businessman, and philanthropist. Life Cherry Logan Emerson, Jr. was born in 1916 and grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the son of Cherry Logan Emerson, Sr., the dean of engineering at the Georgia Tech, and the grandson of William Henry Emerson, Georgia Tech's first dean. As a child, Emerson had a talent for mathematics, foreshadowing a career in science and engineering. Despite his father and grandfather's affiliations with Georgia Tech, Emerson chose instead to attend Emory University in Atlanta, earning both a B.A. (1938) and M.A. (1939) in chemistry. He went on to earn an M.S. in chemical engineering at MIT under the tutelage of Warren K. Lewis. During this time, Emerson courted Lewis' daughter, Mary, and the two were married in 1942. History Of Georgia Tech
The history of the Georgia Institute of Technology can be traced back to Reconstruction-era plans to develop the industrial base of the Southern United States. Founded on October 13, 1885, in Atlanta as the Georgia School of Technology, the university opened in 1888 after the construction of Tech Tower and a shop building and only offered one degree in mechanical engineering. By 1901, degrees in electrical, civil, textile, and chemical engineering were also offered. In 1948, the name was changed to the Georgia Institute of Technology to reflect its evolution from an engineering school to a full technical institute and research university. William Henry Emerson
William Henry "Big Doc" Emerson (June 17, 1860Emerson, 2002. – November 13, 1924J. L. D., 1924.) was an American chemist. Life William Henry Emerson was born in Tunnel Hill, Georgia in 1860 to Matilda Caroline Austin, daughter of Clisbe Austin, and Caleb J. Emerson.J. L. D., 1924; Emerson, 2002. He joined the United States Naval Academy at age 16, graduating in 1880. Emerson spent the next several years as an officer in the U.S. Navy before enrolling in graduate studies at Johns Hopkins University in October 1883. The Technique
The ''Technique'', also known as the "''Nique''", is the official student newspaper of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, and has referred to itself as "the South's liveliest college newspaper" since 1945. As of the fall semester of 2011, the ''Technique'' has a weekly circulation of 10,000, distributed to numerous locations on the Georgia Tech campus and a handful of locations in the surrounding area. The first issue of the ''Technique'' was published on November 17, 1911, and the paper has printed continuously since its founding.
