Robert S. Garrett (May 24, 1875 – April 25, 1961) was an American athlete, as well as investment banker and philanthropist in Baltimore, Maryland and financier of several important archeological excavations. Garrett was the first modern Olympic champion in discus throw as well as shot put. Early and family life Robert S. Garrett was born in then rural/suburban Baltimore County, Maryland (which surrounds the City of Baltimore) into one of Maryland's most prominent and wealthy families. For four generations, the Garretts ran Robert Garrett and Sons, a shipping and financing, investment banking firm founded by his Irish immigrant great-grandfather, also named Robert Garrett, in 1819. Bobby Garrett
Robert Driscoll Garrett (August 16, 1932 – 5 December 1987) was an American football quarterback who played for Stanford University and played one season in the National Football League. He is a member of the Stanford Athletics Hall of Fame. Born in Los Angeles, California, Garrett was an All-American quarterback at Stanford University. Garrett became Stanford's starting quarterback in 1952, his junior year. He led Stanford to a 5–3 record in games he started. After he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in a loss to USC, Stanford lost its two remaining games, finishing with a 5–5 record. In 1953, Garrett led Stanford to a 6-3-1 record. Stanford finished second behind UCLA in the Pacific Coast Conference, with a 4-1-1 conference record. Garrett not only played quarterback but also played as a defensive back, punted, and kicked PATs. Robert Garrett (born 5 May 1988) is a Northern Irish semi-professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for NIFL Championship side Bangor. He has previously played for Stoke City, Wrexham, Linfield, FC Edmonton, Portadown, and Glenavon. Club career Garrett joined Stoke City in 2002 and played just twice for the club both coming as a substitute in games towards the end of the 2005–06 season. In the 2006–07 season, Garrett enjoyed a loan spell at Football League Two side Wrexham. He returned to Wrexham again on loan in the 2007–08 season. In the summer of 2007 Garrett returned to Belfast and joined Linfield and became one of their most important players. As Linfield added more quality to their midfield Robert's first team chances dried up, at which stage he had to consider his future. Robert Garrett (born 18 March 1977 in Ochsenfurt, Bavaria) is a former German professional basketball player. From 1996 to 2002 Garrett played with DJK Würzburg where he was a teammate of Dirk Nowitzki. Before transferring to Bayern Munich he played for the Brose Baskets of the 1st Division. He is 1.92 m (6 ft 3 ¾ in) in height and he weighs 98 kg (215 pounds). Garrett was also a member of the German national basketball team. He competed at the 2008 Olympic Games.
