Bob Frankford
Robert Timothy Stansfield "Bob" Frankford (August 1, 1939 – August 1, 2015) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a New Democratic member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1990 to 1995 who represented the Toronto riding of Scarborough East. Background Frankford was educated at King's College London in England, and became a family physician before entering political life. He was responsible for inaugurating the first health service organization in Toronto. He raised three daughters. He died in Toronto on August 1, 2015, at the age of 76. Politics He was elected to the Ontario legislature in the 1990 provincial election, defeating Liberal incumbent Ed Fulton by 1,774 votes in Scarborough East as the NDP won a majority government. Seaton House
Seaton House is the largest homeless shelter in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located at 339 George Street in the Garden District neighbourhood. The facility provides temporary lodging, food, clothing, medical care, for single men and also attempts to provide tools for enabling them to establish their independence. The shelter houses up to 700 men though, in the past, it has exceeded capacity and housed as many as 900 men. It is expected to close in 2020. Sam Apelbaum
Sam Apelbaum is a politician in Ontario, Canada. A lawyer and real estate agent, he was leader of the Ontario Libertarian Party from 1996 to 2011. Like many other members of the Libertarian Party, Apelbaum believes in reducing government participation in education and healthcare and widespread taxation reform, and criticized the Progressive Conservative government of Mike Harris as being too statist in its policies. Toronto Centre is a provincial electoral district in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Since 1999 it has elected one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It was created in 1999 as Toronto Centre—Rosedale from most of St. George—St. David and parts of St. Andrew—St. Patrick, Fort York, when ridings were redistributed to match their federal counterparts. From 1999 to 2007 the riding included the area of Toronto from Avenue Road/University Avenue in the west to the Don River and the city limits in the east and the Mount Pleasant Cemetery and the CPR in the north. Gerry Phillips
Gerry Phillips (born September 11, 1940) is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario who represented the eastern Toronto riding of Scarborough—Agincourt from 1987 to 2011. He served as a cabinet minister in the governments of David Peterson and Dalton McGuinty. 1999 Ontario General Election
The 1999 Ontario general election was held on June 3, 1999 to elect members of the 37th Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, Canada. The governing Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, led by Premier Mike Harris, was re-elected to a second majority government. It was the first election in which the Legislative Assembly of Ontario had a reduced number of seats. Previously, the province's riding boundaries were different from those used in federal elections. John Norman McKay (born March 21, 1948) is a Canadian lawyer and politician. He is the Liberal Member of Parliament for the riding of Scarborough—Guildwood.
