Bob Ferguson (fullback)
Robert Eugene Ferguson (August 29, 1939 – December 30, 2004) was an American football fullback. He played college football at Ohio State University, where he won the Maxwell Award in 1961. Ferguson then played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1996. Playing career Ferguson attended Troy High School in Troy, Ohio. Ferguson's first year of eligibility at Ohio State University was 1959. The starting fullback at the beginning of the season was the senior, and Heisman Trophy candidate, Bob White. Through the course of the season, however, Ferguson supplanted White as the starter and led the team in rushing that season, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Bob Ferguson (born November 5, 1950) is an American football executive who served as general manager of the Arizona Cardinals from 1999 to 2003 and the Seattle Seahawks from 2003 to 2005. Early life Ferguson was born in Enumclaw, Washington and raised in Federal Way, Washington. He played linebacker for the University of Washington and earned a communications degree from there in 1973. Robert Ferguson ( – 19 May 1915) was a Scottish professional golfer who was one of the top players from the mid-1860s into the 1880s. He won a hat-trick of consecutive titles at The Open Championship in 1880, 1881 and 1882. In addition to the three Open Championship wins, he posted top-10 finishes seven times. Early life Ferguson was born in Musselburgh, East Lothian, Scotland, circa 1846. Robert Vavasour Ferguson (January 31, 1845 – May 3, 1894) was an American infielder, league official, manager and umpire in the early days of baseball, playing both before and after baseball became a professional sport. In addition to playing and managing, he served as president of the National Association of Professional Base Ball Players from 1872 through 1875, the sport's first entirely professional league. His character and unquestioned honesty were highly regarded during a period in baseball history where the game's reputation was badly damaged by gamblers and rowdy behavior by players and fans. He began in journalism with ''The London Free Press'' from 1952 to 1964, and was colour commentator for baseball games broadcast on CFPL (AM). He also served as the official statistician of the Intercounty Baseball League from 1958 to 1966, and owned the London Majors, London Pontiacs in the same league during the 1963 and 1964 seasons. He later worked for the ''Ottawa Citizen'' from 1967 to 1996, and was the paper's first writer assigned to cover the Montreal Expos. Robert Bruce Ferguson (December 30, 1927 – July 22, 2001) was an American country music songwriter and record producer who was instrumental in establishing Nashville, Tennessee as a center of country music. He was also a movie producer, and Choctaw Indian historian.
