Bob Buck (bushman)
Robert Henry Buck (2 July 1881 - 9 August 1960) was an Australian pastoralist and bushman who is best remembered as being one of the people to recover the body of Lewis Harold Bell Lasseter. Early life Buck was born on 2 July 1881 in Alberton, South Australia, Alberton in South Australia and he is the son of Robert and Sarah Ann Buck. Buck was primarily self-educated and, until 1905, worked in and around Wallaroo, South Australia, Wallaroo until he joined his uncle Joseph Breaden to work in the Northern Territory. Life in the Northern Territory Buck's uncle owned Todmorden Station (pastoral lease), Todmorden, Henbury Station, Henbury and Idracowra Station, Idracowra stations in the Northern Territory and his brother Allan, also Buck's uncle, managed Idracowra Station. Working between these stations Buck learned bushmanship and worked as a stockman and saddler. Lewis Harold Bell Lasseter
Lewis Harold Bell Lasseter (27 September 1880 - 31 January 1931), also known as Harold Lasseter, was an Australian gold prospector who claimed to have found a fabulously rich gold reef in central Australia. Life Lasseter was born in 1880 at Bamganie, Victoria, Australia. Self-educated, he was literate and well-spoken, and commonly described as eccentric and opinionated. He travelled in both Australia and the United States and worked at a variety of occupations, marrying twice and fathering five children. Lasseter twice enlisted in the First Australian Imperial Force. In 1916, he joined the reinforcements for the 3rd Pioneer Battalion being raised in Melbourne, but was discharged before leaving Australia after repeatedly going AWOL. In 1917, he enlisted again, this time in Adelaide, but was discharged as medically unfit for service following a brawl, again without leaving Australia.
