Perth Football Club
The Perth Football Club, nicknamed the Demons, is an Australian rules football club based in Lathlain, Western Australia, currently playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Representing the south-east area of the Perth metropolitan region, the club currently trains and plays its home games at Lathlain Park (currently known, for sponsorship reasons, as Mineral Resources Park), having previously played at the WACA Ground between 1899 and 1958 and later in 1987 and 1988. The club was founded in 1899 and began play in the First Rate Junior Association, but was promoted to the WAFL after eight games to replace the Rovers Football Club after they dropped out of the league and folded, with Perth drawing much of its inaugural WAFL squad from Rovers. Perth won its first premiership in 1907, but did not win their second until 1955. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Australian Football League
The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. Originally known as the Victorian Football League (VFL), it was founded in 1896 as a breakaway competition from the Victorian Football Association (VFA), with its inaugural season commencing the following year. The VFL, aiming to become a national competition, began expanding beyond Victoria to other Australian states in the 1980s, and changed its name to the AFL in 1990. Peter Bosustow
Peter Robert Bosustow (born 27 October 1957) is a former Australian rules footballer with the Perth Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and the Carlton Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Career Bosustow commenced his footballing career with Perth in 1975 and played in two premiership sides in 1976 and 1977. After six seasons, Bosustow was recruited to Carlton where he played in the 1981, 1982 and 1983 VFL seasons. After being suspended for four matches at the end of the 1983 season, Bosustow left Carlton to return to the ''Demons'' where he played in the WAFL from 1984 until his retirement from the game in 1987. Bosustow played a total of 141 games with Perth, kicking 378 goals, and was named on a half-forward flank in Perth's 'Team of the Century' (1899 to 1999).
