Bob Betley
Robert Hansen Betley (February 1, 1940 – April 28, 2020) was an American professional golfer who is best known for having played on the Senior PGA Tour. Betley was born in Butte, Montana. He attended Weber State University, where he majored in police science and administration. He started playing golf at age 28. Betley spent most of his regular career years as a club pro. He was known for driving the ball long distances. He was runner-up at the 1986 PGA Club Professional Championship. Through Monday qualifying and sponsor exemptions, he played in a few PGA Tour events during his regular career years. His best showing in a major was a T-47 at the 1987 PGA Championship. Upon reaching the age of 50 in February 1990, Betley joined the Senior PGA Tour (now known as the PGA Tour Champions). Orville Moody
Orville James Moody (December 9, 1933 – August 8, 2008) was an American professional golfer who won numerous tournaments in his career. He won the U.S. Open in 1969, the last champion in the 20th century to win through local and sectional qualifying. Early life Born in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Moody was the youngest of ten children. The son of a golf course superintendent, he began his career at Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, winning the 1952 state high school golf championship. After attempting college for a few weeks at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Moody joined the U.S. Army. He was able to continue playing golf while in uniform, winning the All-Service championship and three Korea Opens. He spent fourteen years in the Army, heading up maintenance supervision and instruction at all Army golf courses. Franklin Showdown Classic
The Uniting Fore Care Classic was a golf tournament on the Champions Tour from 1982 to 2002. It was played in Park City, Utah, at the Jeremy Ranch Golf Club (1982–1992) and the Park Meadows Golf Club (1993–2002). It was played at stroke play each year except in 2002 when it used a Modified Stableford scoring system. From 1983 to 1986, it was an unofficial tournament that paired a Senior PGA Tour player with a PGA Tour player in a two-man best-ball format. Seven-time PGA Tour winner Bert Yancey died of a heart attack shortly before he was to tee it up in the 1994 edition of the tournament which was eventually won by his friend, Tom Weiskopf. Afterwards Weiskopf said he planned to have Yancey's name engraved on the tournament trophy not just his own. The purse for the 2002 tournament was US$1,500,000, with $225,000 going to the winner. Bob Murphy (golfer)
Robert Joseph Murphy, Jr. (born February 14, 1943) is an American professional golfer who was formerly a member of the PGA Tour and currently plays on the Champions Tour. Murphy has won 21 tournaments as a professional. Early years Murphy was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was a standout pitcher in his youth, and as a teen led his high school baseball team to the state championship in 1960. After suffering a football injury (which also ended his baseball career), Murphy got started in golf. College career Murphy attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity ( Florida Upsilon Chapter).
