Bob Bennie (footballer, Born 1873)
Robert Brown Bennie (28 September 1873 – 1 October 1945) was a Scottish footballer who played in the Football League for Newcastle United. He came into consideration for an international cap in 1902, taking part in the Home Scots v Anglo-Scots trial, but this did not lead on to selection for Scotland. Polmont
Polmont ( gd, Poll-Mhonadh) is a village in the Falkirk council area of Central Scotland. It lies towards the east of the town of Falkirk, north of the Union Canal, which runs adjacent to the village. Due to its situation in Central Scotland, many locations can be seen from Polmont, ranging from the Ochil Hills and the River Forth, to Cairnpapple Hill. Peter Bennie (10 June 1899 – 1981) was a Scottish professional footballer who played as an outside right. Home Scots v Anglo-Scots was an annual association football trial match organised by the Scottish Football Association between the 1890s and 1920s to examine the abilities of possible players for upcoming full British Home Championship internationals, primarily the 'Auld Enemy' England v Scotland fixture. Selection trials were commonplace among football federations, but this match was unusual in that its regular format consisted of players based in one country (the 'homes') facing a selection of those who had moved to another country (the 'Anglos'), in order to form a combined team to oppose that other country's natives in international play.
