Bob Appleby (footballer)
Robert Appleby (15 January 1940 – 25 April 2024) was an English professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Career Born in Warkworth, Appleby moved from Amble Welfare to Middlesbrough aged 17, initially playing with their Reserves before making his first-team debut in April 1960. He was a first-team regular for two seasons, and made nearly 100 appearances before moving to Hereford United in 1967. Middlesbrough ( ) is a town on the southern bank of the River Tees in North Yorkshire, England. It is near the North York Moors national park. Hereford () is a cathedral city, civil parish and the county town of Herefordshire, England. It lies on the River Wye, approximately east of the border with Wales, south-west of Worcester and north-west of Gloucester. Carlisle ( , ; from xcb, Caer Luel) is a city that lies within the Northern English county of Cumbria, south of the Scottish border at the confluence of the rivers Eden, Caldew and Petteril.
