The Boa Vista Island League or Championships is a regional championship played in Boa Vista Island, Cape Verde. The winner of the championship plays in the Cape Verdean football Championships of each season. It is organized by the Boa Vista Regional Football Association (''Associação Regional de Futebol da Boa Vista'', abbreviation: ''ARFBV''). Since 2010, it has the largest regional football association governing body in area in the nation. Académica Operária won the most titles numbering nineteen, Sal Rei is second now numbering ten with their recent championship win. During the 2004-05 season as Sal-Rei was also the national winner and received automatic qualification (the first to do so), second place Desportivo Estância Baixo qualified into the 2005 National Championships, the only time a second place club qualified from Boa Vista. Boa Vista Island Opening Tournament
The Boa Vista Island Opening Tournament (Portuguese: ''Torneio de Abertura da Boa Vista'', Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''Turnéu di Abertura di Bubista''), is an opening tournament competition (equivalent to a league cup) played during the season in the island of Boa Vista, Cape Verde The competition is organized by the Boa Vista Regional Football Association. Some seasons featured rounds of one portion, some seasons featured three rounds and two groups with the top club of each group in the final match. It currently consists of seven rounds, a meeting with another club once. The winner with the most points (sometimes in the final) is the winner. The first edition took place in 2000 and was the second regional competition after the championships. Onze Estrelas Boa Vista or Onze Estrelas Clube de Bofareira (Portuguese meaning ''Eleven Stars'') is a football (soccer) club that currently plays in the Campeonato Nacional de Cabo Verde and in the Boa Vista Island League in Cape Verde. Clube de Futebol Os Sanjoanenses, also known as Sanjoanense (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: ''Sanjoanensi'', also in the other Capeverdean Crioulo forms of the Santo Antão and the São Vicente Crioulos) is a football club that currently plays in the Santo Antão Island League South Zone in Cape Verde. It is based in the town of Porto Novo in the northern part of the island of Santo Antão. History The club was founded on February 4, 1984 and was called Futebol Clube Esperança (FC Esperança). In 1996, the club changed its name to Sanjoanense after Saint John, the patron saint of Porto Novo. The team is the only one of the four teams in the division that never won any title since the breakup of the island division in 1997.
