Bo Hansson
Bo Hansson (10 April 1943 – 23 April 2010) was a Swedish musician best known for his four instrumental progressive rock studio albums released throughout the 1970s. Early life and musical career Hansson spent his early life in a remote village in the pine forests of northern Sweden, but a change in his parents' fortunes forced a move to Stockholm and they were forced to leave the young Hansson behind, in the care of family friends. As a teenager he joined his parents in Stockholm, where he soon became interested in the burgeoning rock and roll scene and taught himself to play the guitar, before joining the band Rock-Olga. After the rock and roll craze gave way to jazz and blues in the late fifties, he joined 'Slim Notini's Blues Gang' as a guitarist. Hansson was able to move on and form his own blues group The Merrymen, who supported The Rolling Stones on an early Scandinavian tour. In 1966, Hansson saw American jazz organist Jack McDuff perform at Stockholm's Gyllene Cir ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Tolkien's high fantasy novel, ''The Lord of the Rings''. It was also moderately successful in America, where it reached number 154 on the ''Billboard'' Top LPs & Tapes chart. Attic Thoughts
''Attic Thoughts'' is a 1975 instrumental progressive rock album by Swedish musician Bo Hansson. Recording and release The album was recorded during 1974 and 1975 at Studio Decibel in Stockholm, and at Hansson's home, which had virtually become a studio by this point in his career. The album featured contributions from many of the same session musicians and friends that had played on Hansson's previous album, '' Magician's Hat''. In addition to featuring Hansson's usual blend of other-worldly progressive rock and fairy tale-like ambiance, ''Attic Thoughts'' includes a suite named "Rabbit Music", which was inspired by Richard Adams' novel '' Watership Down'', a subject which Hansson would explore further on his 1977 album ''Music Inspired by Watership Down''. In Hansson's native Sweden, ''Attic Thoughts'' was released with the Swedish title of ''Mellanväsen''. It was released with its English title in April 1975 by Charisma Records, but was less commercially successful than H ... Magician's Hat
''Magician's Hat'' is an instrumental progressive rock album by Swedish musician Bo Hansson. It is his second solo album, following the successful '' Music Inspired by Lord of the Rings'', and was originally released in Sweden by Silence Records in 1972, with the title ''Ur trollkarlens hatt''. Recording and release The genesis of the album can be traced back to the early 1970 recording sessions for Hansson's first solo album, ''Music Inspired by Lord of the Rings''. As work on that album neared completion, the prolific Hansson also began working on additional material that was not intended for the album. After his debut album had been released in December 1970, Hansson continued to work on these left-over fragments and also composed additional material at his summer house in the Stockholm archipelago. Recording sessions for ''Magician's Hat'' took place at Studio Decibel in Stockholm, with contributions from a number of session musicians, including Rune Carlsson, Gunn ... Eric Malmberg
Eric Malmberg is a musician from Sweden. Previously a member of the duo Sagor & Swing ("Fairytales & Swing"), in 2005 he released his first solo album, ''Den gåtfulla människan'' ("The Enigmatic Human"). The album consists only of sounds played on the Hammond organ. The album is centered on a musical exploration of the human psyche and the different tracks have names such as "The Subconscious" and "The Dual-personalities". The different tracks are all linked together and form a seamless journey into the human mind. Far from being the product of a loose interest in psychology, these themes are deeply personal as Malmberg has been fighting an ongoing struggle with his own autistic spectrum disorder. He has appeared in a documentary entitled ''Creative Illness'' which consists of interviews of skilled Swedish artists who have received a mixed blessing in the form of different mental afflictions. In this documentary, Malmberg speaks of his sometimes manic relationship with music ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

''Watership Down'' is an adventure novel by English author Richard Adams, published by Rex Collings Ltd of London in 1972. Set in Berkshire in southern England, the story features a small group of rabbits. ''Watership Down'' was Richard Adams' debut novel. It was rejected by several publishers before Collings accepted the manuscript; the published book then won the annual Carnegie Medal (UK), annual Guardian Prize (UK), and other book awards. The novel was adapted into an animated feature film in 1978 and, from 1999 to 2001, an animated children's television series. In 2018, a drama of the ... UK Album Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. As of 2021, the OCC still only tracks how many UK Top 75s album hits and how many weeks in Top 75 albums chart each artist has achieved. To qualify for the Of ... Session Musician
Session musicians, studio musicians, or backing musicians are musicians hired to perform in recording sessions or live performances. The term sideman is also used in the case of live performances, such as accompanying a recording artist on a tour. Session musicians are usually not permanent or official members of a musical ensemble or band. They work behind the scenes and rarely achieve individual fame in their own right as soloists or bandleaders. However, top session musicians are well known within the music industry, and some have become publicly recognized, such as the Wrecking Crew, the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and The Funk Brothers who worked with Motown Records. Many session musicians specialize in playing common rhythm section instruments such as guitar, piano, bass, or drums. Others are specialists, and play brass, woodwinds, and strings. Many session musicians play multiple instruments, which lets them play in a wider range of musical situations, genres an ... ''The Lord of the Rings'' is an epic high-fantasy novel by English author and scholar J. R. R. Tolkien. Set in Middle-earth, intended to be Earth at some time in the distant past, the story began as a sequel to Tolkien's 1937 children's book ''The Hobbit'', but eventually developed into a much larger work. Written in stages between 1937 and 1949, ''The Lord of the Rings'' is one of the best-selling books ever written, with over 150 million copies sold. The title refers to the story's main antagonist, the Dark Lord Sauron, who, in an earlier age, created the One Ring to rule the other Rings of Power given to Men, Dwarves, and Elves, in his campaign to conquer all of Middle-earth. From homely beginnings in the Shire, a hobbit land reminiscent of the English countryside, the story ranges across Middle-earth, following the quest to destroy the One Ring mainly through the eyes of the hobbits Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin. Although often called a trilogy, the work was intende ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |
