A summit is a point on a surface that is higher in elevation than all points immediately adjacent to it. The topography, topographic terms acme, apex, peak (mountain peak), and zenith are synonymous. The term (mountain top) is generally used only for a mountain peak that is located at some distance from the nearest point of higher elevation. Benson is a town in Hamilton County, New York, United States. The population was 192 at the 2010 census. The town is on the southern border of Hamilton County and is northwest of Schenectady. The current Town Supervisor is John M. Stortecky . History Benson was formed in 1860 from the towns of Hope and Mayfield (now in Fulton County). Benson once possessed an iron mine.
