Picasso's Blue Period
The Blue Period ( es, Período Azul) is a term used to define the works produced by Spanish painter Pablo Picasso between 1901 and 1904 when he painted essentially monochrome, monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green, only occasionally warmed by other colors. These somber works, inspired by Spain and painted in Barcelona and Paris, are now some of his most popular works, although he had difficulty selling them at the time. This period's starting point is uncertain; it may have begun in Spain in the spring of 1901 or in Paris in the second half of the year. In choosing austere color and sometimes doleful subject matter—prostitutes, beggars and drunks—Picasso was influenced by a journey through Spain and by the suicide of his friend Carles Casagemas, who took his life at the L’Hippodrome Café in Paris, France by shooting himself in the right temple on February 17, 1901. Blue Period (album)
''Blue Period'' is the third studio album by jazz musician Miles Davis. It was released in 1953 as a 10" LP, his second released by Prestige Records, recorded over the course of two 1951 recording sessions at New York's Apex Studio. Background "Bluing" and "Out of the Blue", two Davis compositions, were recorded on October 5, 1951, at the same session as the material for his first album ''The New Sounds'' (PRLP 124). "Blue Room", composed by Rodgers and Hart, was recorded earlier that year, at the same January 17 recording session as the three tracks used on the various artists LP ''Modern Jazz Trumpets'' (PRLP 113). Blue Period (manga)
is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tsubasa Yamaguchi. The series has been serialized in Kodansha's ''seinen'' manga magazine ''Monthly Afternoon'' since June 2017 and has been collected in thirteen ''tankōbon'' volumes as of November 2022. The series is licensed in English by Kodansha USA. An anime television series adaptation by Seven Arcs aired from October to December 2021. As of November 2021, the manga had over 4.5 million copies in circulation. In 2020, ''Blue Period'' was awarded the 44th Kodansha Manga Award in the General category and the Grand Prize of the 13th Manga Taishō award.
