Blue Beetle (film)
''Blue Beetle'' is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Jaime Reyes / Blue Beetle. It is intended to be the 14th film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by Angel Manuel Soto from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, and stars Xolo Maridueña as Reyes alongside Bruna Marquezine, Belissa Escobedo, George Lopez, Adriana Barraza, Elpidia Carrillo, Damián Alcázar, Raoul Trujillo, and Susan Sarandon. It is produced by DC Studios, Entertainment One, S&K Pictures, and the Safran Company, and set for distribution by Warner Bros. Angel Manuel Soto (born January 28, 1983) is a Puerto Rican film director, producer, and screenwriter. Early life Angel Manuel Soto was born in Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Santurce, a neighborhood in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His parents were a car salesman and a flight attendant. During his youth, Soto was involved in soccer and boxing, which inspired some of his later projects. As he grew up, he studied architecture and documentary filmmaking and writing. Soto began his career as a TV producer and later worked on Art Direction at a local advertising agency. Career Before working on his first short film, Soto worked at Standard Style Boutique in Kansas City. Jaime Reyes is a fictional superhero character appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Keith Giffen, John Rogers, and Cully Hamner, the character made his first appearance in ''Infinite Crisis'' #3 (February 2006).
