The World Of Skin
The World of Skin was a music project springing out of the American group Swans, which was a collaboration between the core Swans members Michael Gira and Jarboe. The project was initially called Skin, with the first two albums being released under that name, the last one being released under the name the World of Skin. In the UK, the first two albums were released by Product Inc., an imprint of Mute Records, while the last was released on Gira's own Young God label. History Swans' album ''Greed'' began a trend toward greater use of melody, and this trend continued with the later '' Children of God''. The work performed as Skin was initially in marked contrast with the less overtly melodic but contemporaneous Swans work, but later Swans work integrated the two aspects. Paul Kendall
Paul Kendall is a composer, producer and visual artist, primarily known as a sound engineer, mixer, mainly through his extensive career at Mute Records and his collaborations with Alan Wilder of Recoil. Career Kendall was born in 1954. In 1973 he went to York University to study maths, dropping out after nine months. While at university he began experimenting with the VCS3 synth and tape manipulation. On his return to London he worked in Barclays Bank for nine and a half years, which allowed him to continue working on music. He set up a small demo recording studio in Covent Garden with two friends, which gave him first hand experience of recording techniques. When his mother died in 1984, he left Barclays and built a 16-track studio in his home. John Fryer (producer)
John Fryer (born 1958) is an English record producer. Best known for his production work, he has also performed as a musician, as one of the two constant members of This Mortal Coil (along with Ivo Watts-Russell), providing keyboards, strings and synthesizer sequencing for the band, and its offshoot, The Hope Blister. Career Fryer started out at Blackwing Studios in south London, working with bands on the 4AD, Mute, Rough Trade and Beggars Banquet record labels, including Depeche Mode, Fad Gadget and Cocteau Twins. His work with the Cocteau Twins, helping to develop their ethereal and ambient sound, led Watts-Russell to recruit Fryer as his musical and producing partner for This Mortal Coil. Fryer is also known for his production work in the industrial rock genre, working with Nine Inch Nails, Stabbing Westward and Gravity Kills. Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). In recent years digital masters have become usual, although analog masters—such as audio tapes—are still being used by the manufacturing industry, particularly by a few engineers who specialize in analog mastering. Viola
The viola ( , also , ) is a string instrument that is bow (music), bowed, plucked, or played with varying techniques. Slightly larger than a violin, it has a lower and deeper sound. Martin McCarrick
Martin McCarrick (born 29 July 1962) is an English cellist, keyboardist, guitarist and composer. Aside from being a live and recording artist, he is also a teacher and visiting lecturer in music. Career His first recording in the pop/rock arena was in Marc and the Mambas album ''Torment and Toreros'', back 1983 and he has since maintained an association with Marc Almond. Siouxsie and the Banshees He is known for his work with Siouxsie and the Banshees from 1987 until 1995. He was featured on their 1987 album ''Through the Looking Glass'' and afterwards recorded three full studio albums: ''Peepshow'', '' Superstition'' and '' The Rapture''. In 1991, the single " Kiss Them For Me" reached Number 23 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100.
