Blondie Goes To College
''Blondie Goes to College'' is a 1942 American comedy film directed by Frank R. Strayer. The film is a part of the ''Blondie'' series, starring Penny Singleton in the title role. It is the tenth of twenty-eight Blondie movies starring Penny Singleton and Arthur Lake. Plot Dagwood Bumstead ( Arthur Lake) is forced to receive a college diploma in order to remain a worker at the Dithers Construction Company. He goes to school with his wife Blondie (Penny Singleton), until they get the news that married couples are not allowed. They decide to pretend they aren't a couple. A dilemma starts when Laura Wadsworth (Janet Blair) begins to flirt with Dagwood, while Big Man on Campus Rusty Bryant (Larry Parks) does the same with Blondie. Even more problems come to Blondie when she discovers she is pregnant. Afraid to tell Dagwood out of fear of expulsion from class, she decides to keep it a secret. Adele Mara
Adele Mara (born Adelaida Delgado; April 28, 1923 – May 7, 2010) was an American actress, singer, and dancer, who appeared in films during the 1940s and 1950s and on television in the 1950s and 1960s. Early years Mara was born in Highland Park, Michigan, to Spanish parents. She had a brother, Luis, who became an actor. Dancing Mara danced as part of bandleader Xavier Cugat's show as well as on two episodes of ''Maverick'' entitled " Seed of Deception" and "The Spanish Dancer". Andrew Tombes (29 June 1885 – 17 March 1976) was an American comedian and character actor. Biography The son of a grocer, originally from Ashtabula, Ohio, Tombes was educated at Phillips Exeter Academy. Early in his career, he worked as a vaudeville comic. By December 1914 he had appeared in the headlining act for the opening of the Kansas City Orpheum Theatre. He successfully ascended to Broadway comedies beginning in 1917, in the revue ''Miss 1917'', and appeared there consistently through the 1920s, for instance in ''Poor Little Ritz Girl'' in 1920, ''Tip-Toes'' in 1925, and the Ziegfeld Follies of 1922 and 1927.
