Blisworth Railway Station
Blisworth railway station was a junction station on the London and North Western Railway (today, the West Coast Main Line), the Northampton and Banbury Junction Railway, and the Northampton and Peterborough Railway. As well as providing interchange between the lines, the station served the village of Blisworth in Northamptonshire and its environs. The station was opened by the London and Birmingham Railway (L&BR) in 1838. History The station was opened on 17 September 1838. In 1845 the L&BR opened its Northampton and Peterborough Railway, a line which connected Peterborough East and Northampton Bridge Street from a junction nearby. The station was rebuilt to the north in 1853, closer to the junction, to facilitate changing trains. In 1846 the line, along with the L&BR, became part of the London and North Western Railway. Blisworth
Blisworth is a village and civil parish in the West Northamptonshire, England. The West Coast Main Line, from London Euston to Manchester and Scotland, runs alongside the village partly hidden and partly on an embankment. The Grand Union Canal passes through the village and the north portal of the Blisworth tunnel is near Stoke Road. The village's name means 'Blith's enclosure'. Location It is about south of Northampton, north of Towcester and north of Milton Keynes. The M1 motorway junction 15 is about north east. Demographics The 1961 census showed a population of 1,192. By the 2001 census there were 1,786 people in the parish (the 2010 estimated population is 1,870), 880 male and 906 female, and 792 dwellings. There are also a few small businesses in and around the village. Northampton () is a market town and civil parish in the East Midlands of England, on the River Nene, north-west of London and south-east of Birmingham. Tiffield was a short-lived experimental railway station situated at the highest point of the Stratford-upon-Avon and Midland Junction Railway which opened in 1869 to serve the Northamptonshire village of Tiffield, only to close two years later. History The Northampton & Banbury Junction Railway, a forerunner of the Stratford-upon-Avon and Midland Junction Railway, opened a line in 1866 which linked its Towcester station with the London and North Western Railway's station at on their London to Birmingham line. An experimental passenger station was opened at Tiffield Summit, the highest point of the line, in October 1869. Weedon Railway Station
Weedon railway station was located to the north of Weedon Bec in Northamptonshire, England on the West Coast Main Line. It was a junction station, being the starting point of the Weedon to Leamington Spa branch line, with one bay platform dedicated for terminating branch line trains. History The station also housed a busy goods depot which was attacked by German aircraft during World War II. The station closed for passengers on 15 September 1958, concurrent with closure of the branch to ; it was demolished soon afterwards. Roade Railway Station
Roade was a railway station serving the Northamptonshire village of the same name on the West Coast Main Line. Roade Station opened in 1838 as the principal station for Northampton (which the main line had bypassed), but its importance diminished upon the opening of the Northampton and Peterborough Railway in 1845. The construction of the Northampton Loop Line in 1875 made Roade a junction station, and it survived until 1964.
