Bless This House (film)
''Bless This House'' is a 1972 British comedy film directed by Gerald Thomas starring Sid James, Diana Coupland, Terry Scott, June Whitfield and Peter Butterworth. It is a spin-off from the television sitcom '' Bless This House''. Plot In contemporary suburbia, somewhere in southern England, middle-aged home-owner Sid Abbot ( Sid James) just wants to lie on his settee and snooze. He is initially frustrated by his wife, work-shy son, and fashion-conscious daughter. Their next door neighbour, Mr Hobbs, puts his house up for sale. The rude and arrogant Ronald Baines ( Terry Scott) and his family move in next door and things worsen. Sid works as a rep and is trying to sell to the Fizzo Drinks company when his daughter Sally arrives with a group of environmentalists to protest the use of non-disposable containers. Arnaldo Putzu
Arnaldo Putzu (6 August 1927 – 1 September 2012) was an Italian artist renowned for his film posters for Italian and British films, such as ''Get Carter'' and the '' Carry On'' films. Biography Born in Rome, the son of an Italian navy officer, he studied art at the Rome Academy. While doing illustration work in Milan, he met the poster artist Enrico de Seta in 1948. De Seta took him to Rome to work in the Italian film industry. After four years with De Seta, Putzu set up his own studio. He worked for several artists including Augusto Favalli, who then controlled many artists employed by the Cinecittà film studios. An executive of the Rank Organisation based in Rome was impressed by the poster artwork coming out of Studio Favalli and spotted an opportunity for Rank to have high quality posters for the low wages paid to Italian artists in the postwar era. Morris Minor
The Morris Minor is a British economy family car that made its debut at the Earls Court Motor Show, London, in October 1948. Designed under the leadership of Alec Issigonis, more than 1.6 million were manufactured between 1948 and 1972 in three series: the Series MM (1948 to 1953), the Series II (1952 to 1956), and the 1000 series (1956 to 1971). Initially available as a two-door saloon and tourer (convertible), the range was expanded to include a four-door saloon from September 1950. A wood-framed estate car (the Traveller) from October 1953 and panel van and pick-up truck variants from May 1953. Marianne Stone
Marianne Stone (23 August 1922 – 21 December 2009) was an English character actress. She performed in films from the early 1940s to the late 1980s, typically playing working class parts such as barmaids, secretaries and landladies. Stone appeared in nine of the ''Carry On'' films, and took part in an episode of the '' Carry On Laughing'' television series ("The Case of the Screaming Winkles"). She also had supporting roles with comedian Norman Wisdom. Bill Maynard
Walter Frederick George Williams (8 October 1928 – 30 March 2018), better known by his stage name Bill Maynard, was an English comedian and actor. He began working in television in the 1950s, notably starring alongside Terry Scott in '' Great Scott - It's Maynard!'' (1955–56). In the 1970s and 1980s, he starred in the successful British sitcoms '' Oh No It's Selwyn Froggitt'' and '' The Gaffer'' and appeared in five films in the ''Carry On'' series. Janet Brown
Janet McLuckie Brown (14 December 192327 May 2011) was a Scottish actress, comedian and impressionist who gained considerable fame in the 1970s and 1980s for her impersonations of Margaret Thatcher. Anthony Jackson (actor)
Anthony Thomas Jackson (18 February 1944 – 26 November 2006) was an English actor. He appeared as the founder of the eponymous ghost hiring agency in the BBC children's comedy series '' Rentaghost'' and as Sid Abbott’s neighbour Trevor, in the sitcom '' Bless This House''. Jackson began his career with the Birmingham Repertory Theatre. He studied at Rose Bruford College and in 1965 joined the Radio Drama Company by winning the Carlton Hobbs Bursary. Later he played at the Mermaid Theatre and the Nottingham Playhouse.
