Blaž Medvešek
Blaž Medvešek (born July 10, 1980 in Maribor) is a former backstroke swimmer from Slovenia, who competed for his native country of Slovenia at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece as well as at 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. In his swimming career, he has represented Branik, Maribor and Ilirija, Ljubljana Swimming Clubs and achieved highest achievements while training in Ljubljana with coach Dimitrij Mancevič and team mate Peter Mankoč. Blaž is still considered to be one of the most successful Slovenian swimmers of all time being finalist at all major swimming competitions including the 2004 Summer Olympics and winning numerous national titles. Furthermore, he still holds the national records in long course pools in 50 m backstroke (26.08), 100 m backstroke (54.88), and 200 m backstroke (1:58.61) as well as for short course meters pools in 100 m backstroke (52.69) and 200 m backstroke (1:52.39). Backstroke Swimming
Backstroke or back crawl is one of the four swimming styles used in competitive events regulated by FINA, and the only one of these styles swum on the back. This swimming style has the advantage of easy breathing, but the disadvantage of swimmers not being able to see where they are going. It also has a different start from the other three competition swimming styles. The swimming style is similar to an ''upside down'' front crawl or freestyle. Both backstroke and front crawl are long-axis strokes. In individual medley backstroke is the second style swum; in the medley relay it is the first style swum. The 2005 World Aquatics Championships (french: Championnats du monde de natation 2005) or the XI FINA World Championships were held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada from July 16 to July 31, 2005. 2003 World Aquatics Championships
The 10th FINA World Aquatics Championships were held July 12–27, 2003 in Barcelona, Spain. The 2002 LEN European Championships were held in Berlin, Germany from Monday 29 July to Sunday 4 August 2002 at the Berlin Eurosportpark in the German capital. 2001 World Aquatics Championships

The opening and closing ceremonies, as well as the swimming and synchronised swimming events, were held at Marine Messe, an indoor multi-purpose facility. Peter Mankoč
Peter Mankoč (born 4 July 1978 in Ljubljana, Slovenia) is a Slovenian swimmer. He is one of the most successful short course European Championship swimmers in the history of the event. Mankoč is the former world record holder in the 100 meter individual medley (short course). Personal Mankoč was born in Ljubljana, where he has lived most of his life. He began swimming competitively at the age of eight. During his swimming career, he was employed as a police officer by the Slovenian government. He is married to an Estonian swimmer Triin Aljand. They have two daughters Brina and Elise and one son Erik. Swimming With height of 1.92 m and weight of 87 kg, Mankoč has always been a short distance swimmer. His strength and explosiveness led to short courses sprint preference, where he has achieved his best results.
