Blaricum
Blaricum () is a municipality and village in the province of North Holland, the Netherlands. It is part of the region of Gooiland and part of the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area (Metropoolregio Amsterdam). It is known for its many monumental farm buildings, local cafes and restaurants, nature, several annual community events, and extensive up-market residential areas. According to statistics published by the Dutch land registry office in February 2011, Blaricum is the most expensive location to purchase a house in the Netherlands. The average home in Blaricum costs €800,000 and had risen an average of 12% from the previous year. The Gooi () is an area around Hilversum, in the centre of the Netherlands. It is a slightly hilly area characterised by its green landscape, its historical charm, the wealth of its inhabitants, and its villas. The Gooi is known in the Netherlands as the home of the rich and famous. Name The name ''Gooi'' is related to ''gouw'', the Dutch word for " gau", being an old name for a 'region'. Merel Bechtold
Merel Bechtold (born February 27, 1992) is a guitarist from the Netherlands. She was born in Blaricum. She started playing guitar in 2007 at the age of fifteen. Half a year later she founded the band Purest of Pain, in which she played lead guitar until its disbandment in 2020. Over the next two years, she began to play in larger, international events and festivals with bands like Suicide Silence, Unearth, MaYaN, Grave, All Shall Perish, Delain and others. In 2013, she released the single "Momentum" and in 2014 she starred at the large metal festival Wacken Open Air. Musical acts At the end of 2012, Bechtold performed her first performance with Delain. Dick Bakker
Dick Bakker (born 23 May 1947 in Blaricum) is a Dutch composer, conductor and music producer. He succeeded Rogier van Otterloo as conductor of the Metropole Orkest, serving between 1991 and 2005. Bakker composed the winning Eurovision Song Contest entry of 1975 for Teach-In. He has remained an associate with the Eurovision Song Contest and the Nationaal Songfestival, composing the Dutch entry for the 1982 Event sung by Bill van Dijk. He conducted three Dutch Eurovision entries, in 1996, 1997 and 1998. Bakker is a strong supporter of an orchestra's return to the contest. Bakker has worked as a studio engineer and arranger for Shocking Blue (on ''Venus''), Rudi Carrell and Paloma Blanca.
