A civil township is a widely used unit of local government in the United States that is subordinate to a county, most often in the northern and midwestern parts of the country. Benton Ridge is a village in Hancock County, Ohio, United States. The population was 299 at the 2010 census. It is within the boundaries of the Liberty-Benton Local School district. History Benton Ridge was originally called Benton, and under the latter name was laid out in 1835 and named for Thomas Hart Benton (1782–1858), a U.S. Senator from Missouri.
