Art Blakey
Arthur Blakey (October 11, 1919 – October 16, 1990) was an American jazz drummer and bandleader. He was also known as Abdullah Ibn Buhaina after he converted to Islam for a short time in the late 1940s. Blakey made a name for himself in the 1940s in the big bands of Fletcher Henderson and Billy Eckstine. He then worked with bebop musicians Thelonious Monk, Charlie Parker, and Dizzy Gillespie. In the mid-1950s, Horace Silver and Blakey formed the Jazz Messengers, a group that the drummer was associated with for the next 35 years. ''Blakey'' is an album by drummer Art Blakey recorded in 1954 and originally released on the EmArcy label as a 10-inch LP. The album was rereleased on CD in 1999 with bonus tracks originally released on the album '' Introducing Joe Gordon''. The album has also been released as "The Complete Art Blakey on EmArcy", including four songs from a March 24 recording session. George Blakey
George Matthew Blakey (20 January 1907 – 12 January 1968) was an English cricketer: a right-handed batsman and right arm bowler who played three first-class games for Worcestershire, all in July 1939. He totalled 46 runs in his four innings, of which 42 came in a single effort, on his debut against Surrey. Prior to his brief first-class career, Blakey had also played in the Minor Counties Championship for the Lancashire Second XI in 1929 and 1930. John Blakey
John Blakey (born 24 July 1966) is a former Australian rules footballer who played 359 games in the Australian Football League. Football career Playing Recruited from East Doncaster, Victoria, Blakey debuted for the Fitzroy Football Club in 1985, and went on to be used in a variety of midfield positions. He went on to play 135 games (for 38 goals) with the Fitzroy Lions until 1992. He switched to the North Melbourne Football Club in 1993 and went on to be a stalwart for the club. He played in the 1996 and 1999 premiership sides and went on to play 224 games for 72 goals until he retired in 2002 at 36 years of age. His total of 359 games places him 12th on the list of most games in VFL/AFL football and has played the most games in the VFL/AFL without playing in a draw. Marion Clifton Blakey (born March 26, 1948) is an American businesswoman and former government official who served as president and CEO of Rolls-Royce North America. Prior to joining Rolls-Royce, she served as the eighth full-time chief executive of the Aerospace Industries Association, an American defense industry trade association from 2007 to 2015. Before this, she served a five-year term as the 15th Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration. Blakey was the second woman to hold the position, serving as a successor to Jane Garvey, the first woman to hold the Administrator title. Nicholas Blakey
Nicholas Blakey (died 20 November 1758) was an Irish-born draughtsman and engraver. He produced book illustrations, and designed early examples of scenes from English history. Life Blakey's early life is not known; born in Ireland, he is known to be studying in Paris in 1747. He developed a late rococo style. He was a designer and sometimes engraver of book illustrations, collaborating with others including Louis Peter Boitard, Charles Grignion the Elder and Simon François Ravenet. His earliest published designs appear in Bernhard Siegfried Albinus's ''Tables of the Skeleton and Muscles of the Human Body'' (1749). Working with the painter Francis Hayman, he designed and engraved plates for an edition of Alexander Pope's works (1751), and for Jonas Hanway's ''An Historical Account of the British Trade over the Caspian Sea'' (1753). Richard John Blakey (born 15 January 1967) is a former English cricketer who played in two Test matches and three One Day Internationals from 1992 to 1993. Life and career Blakey was a fine wicket-keeper for Yorkshire, who made two Test appearances for England in 1992-93 during the tour to India. He was picked for his batting potential, but he made little impression and returned to the county game. As was the case for many keepers during the 1990s, the presence of Jack Russell and Alec Stewart made difficult any further England appearances. Blakey initially appeared in the Yorkshire team as a batsman in 1985, before replacing David Bairstow as the gloveman for the county. Stephen Lewis (17 December 1926 – 12 August 2015), credited early in his career as Stephen Cato, was an English actor, comedian, director, screenwriter and playwright. Kirkbymoorside () is a market town and civil parish in the Ryedale district in North Yorkshire, England.
