Neal Blaisdell
Neal Shaw Blaisdell (November 6, 1902 – November 5, 1975) served as Mayor of Honolulu from 1955 to 1969 as a member of the Hawaii Republican Party. As chief executive of the City and County of Honolulu, Hawaii, he oversaw one of the largest construction booms in city and county history, working closely with Governor John A. Burns. Blaisdell was the sitting mayor when Hawaii became the 50th U.S. state on August 21, 1959. Early life Blaisdell was born in Honolulu and had European and Hawaiian ancestry. His father was William Wallace Blaisdell II, who served as fire chief of Honolulu; and his mother was Maliaka "Malie" Alaneao Merseberg. A maternal great-grandfather was John Adams Cummins. Richard Kekuni Blaisdell
Richard Kekuni Akana Blaisdell (March 11, 1925 – February 12, 2016), was professor emeritus of medicine at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa in Honolulu, and a longtime organizer in the Hawaiian Sovereignty Movement. Blaisdell was the co-founder of an organization of Hawaiian health professionals called, ''E Ola Mau'' in 1984. He was also the Founding Chair, of the Department of Medicine at the University of Hawaiʻi John A. Burns School of Medicine in 1966. He was the convener for the 1993 Kanaka Maoli People's Tribunal, which documented U.S. abuses throughout all major islands in great detail before an international panel of judges, and the primary organizer of Ka Pākaukau (literally, "the Table"), an ongoing forum for dialogue surrounding Kānaka Maoli sovereignty and Hawaiian independence. Frances Blaisdell
Frances Blaisdell (January 5, 1912 – March 11, 2009) was an American flautist, widely recognized as one of the first female professional flautists. She held positions with the National Orchestral Association, the New Opera Company and the New Friends of Music. In addition, she was the first woman to appear as a soloist and wind player in concert with the New York Philharmonic. In addition to playing, she also held teaching positions at the Manhattan School of Music, New York University, Dalcroze School, Mannes School of Music, and Stanford University where she taught for over 35 years. Mike Blaisdell
Michael Walter Blaisdell (born January 18, 1960) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) between 1980 and 1989 and later in the British Hockey League (BHL) from 1990 to 2001. He was selected 11th overall in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft by the Detroit Red Wings. Blaisdell later worked as a coach in the United Kingdom. Professional career Amateur and college hockey Blaisdell was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. Paul Blaisdell (July 21, 1927 – July 10, 1983) was an American painter, sculptor and visual effects creator, best remembered for his work in science fiction and horror B movies of the 1950s. Life and career Blaisdell was born in Newport, Rhode Island in 1927, and grew up in Quincy, Massachusetts. He sketched and built models since early childhood, and eventually attended the New England School of Art and Design in Boston. Philip Eustice Blaisdell (March 30, 1920 – March 14, 1999), better known as Tex Blaisdell, was an American comic-strip artist and comic-book editor. He worked on 22 syndicated features, including '' Little Orphan Annie'', which he drew for five years. Biography Born in Houston, Texas, Blaisdell studied at New York's Art Students League. Daniel Blaisdell (January 22, 1762 – January 10, 1833) was an American teacher, farmer, politician and judge. He served as a United States representative from New Hampshire, as a member of the New Hampshire Senate and as a member of the New Hampshire House of Representatives during the early 1800s. Frank Ellsworth Blaisdell, Sr. (13 March 1862 – 16 July 1946) was an American professor of surgery who also was a keen naturalist and collector who specialized in beetles, and contributed to the systematics of the Tenebrionidae and the Melyridae. Blaisdell was born in Pittsfield, New Hampshire, but his family moved to San Francisco, after the death of his brothers from scarlet fever, when he was eight, and to San Diego three years later. His father, Solon Greenfield, was a saddle and harness maker, and the family managed a ranch in Poway Valley between 1874 and 1886, where young Blaisdell learned to manage an apiary and began to collect insects. John Blaisdell Corliss (June 7, 1851 – December 24, 1929) was an American attorney, historian, and Republican politician from the city of Detroit, Michigan. He served as Detroit City Attorney for four years and represented the city in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1895 to 1903. Early life Corliss was born in Richford, Vermont, to Hezekiah and Lydia (Rounds) Corliss.
