Blairsville is a city and the county seat of Union County, Georgia, Union County, on the northern border of Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia, United States. It was founded near the Nottely River, which was dammed in 1942 as part of the Tennessee Valley Authority project, forming Lake Nottely. As of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census, the city had a population of 616. History During the 1830s, the United States conducted Indian Removal of the Cherokee Nation (19th century), Cherokee Nation and other Southeast tribes, to what was designated as Indian Territory west of the Mississippi River. This area along the Nottely River was part of the large Cherokee territory and the leader Goingsnake was born here in 1758. After American settlers moved into this area, in 1835 the Georgia General Assembly designated Blairsville as the Union County seat. Blairsville, Indiana
Blairsville is a census designated place in Robinson Township, Posey County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. History Blairsville was laid out in 1837 by Stephen Blair, and named for him. A post office was established at Blairsville in 1838, and remained in operation until 1902. With the construction of the railroad in 1880, business activity shifted to nearby Wadesville, and the town declined. Blairsville contains the historic Blairsville Cemetery. A number of the interments are Civil War veterans. The town of Blairsville is located on Big creek in Robinson township. It was named in honor of Stephen Blair who, in company with Ebenezer Phillips, laid out the town on the Fourth of July, 1837. It soon grew into prominence as a half way place on the Evansville and New Harmony stage road, besides it was fairly well located for the convenience of settlers in all directions from the town as a trading point. Blairsville is a borough in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, United States, located east of Pittsburgh, and on the Conemaugh River. As of the 2020 census it had a population of 3,252. History Blairsville was settled in 1818 and incorporated in 1825. In the past, railway shops, foundries, machine shops, enameling plants, and manufactories of plate glass and lumber employed the residents. It was the seat of Blairsville College, a Presbyterian institution opened in 1851.
