Blairgowrie Amateurs Football Club, known as Blairgowrie from 1923, was a football club from Blairgowrie in Perthshire, Scotland. History The club was founded in 1912 at the suggestion of Harry Christie of Duncrub Park under the name Blairgowrie Amateurs. The club had a considerable rivalry with the Stanley club in the 1910s, with matches affected by violence and pitch invasions, apparently provoked by a Blairgowrie man (James Rutherford) replacing a Stanley man on the Scottish Football Association's committee. The most outstanding example being a general mêlée in the Perthshire League game on 28 March 1914, in which the sending-off of Blairgowrie's Andrew Richardson, and his attempt to assault the referee, provoked a mass fight that saw Richardson prosecuted and fined £2. James William Fleming (5 December 1901 – May 1969) was a Scottish footballer who played for St Johnstone, Rangers and Ayr United as a centre forward. Record of pre-war Scottish League Players John Litster / Scottish Football Historian magazine, October 2012 Career Fleming made his Rangers debut against Dundee in October 1925 and scored in a 2–1 defeat at Ibrox. His last appearance was in October 1934 against Queen of the South. In one memorable match he got possession of the ball in defence and worked his way down the pitch, avoiding all tackles, to score a spectacular goal. He holds the record for the most Scottish Cup goals scored by a Rangers player, with 44, as well as the record of having scored the most goals in a single match for Rangers, scoring nine times in a 14–2 Scottish Cup win against Blairgowrie in 1934. He represented Scotland three times between 1929 and 1930, scoring three goals.

The Scottish Junior Football Association (SJFA) is an affiliated national association of the Scottish Football Association and is the governing body for the junior grade of football in Scotland. The term "junior" refers to the level of football played, not the age of the players. The closest equivalent terminology would be non-League football in England, the difference being that junior football in Scotland was not similarly integrated into its football league system until 2021. The Perthshire Cup was an association football cup competition for clubs in the county of Perthshire, Scotland. The competition was founded in 1884 and was last competed for in the 1974–75 season. The Perthshire League was a league association football tournament for teams in Perthshire, Scotland. History The League was set up on 8 January 1898 at a meeting at the White Horse Hotel in Perth, by representatives of five of the senior clubs, plus two junior, clubs in the county: * Airleywight * Duncrub Park * Huntingtower * Luncarty * Scone * Stanley * Tulloch Having helped to set up the League, Duncrub Park decided not to take part, although it did finally join the League in 1901. The competition was aimed at clubs in the county, rather than urban areas, so clubs from Perth were not included. The first champion, in 1897–98, was Scone, which won every one of its 10 matches. Luncarty withdrew after three games of the 1898–99 season and was replaced the following year by Bridge of Earn.
