Blair Henley
Michael Blair Henley (born May 14, 1997) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the Houston Astros organization. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut in 2024. Career Henley attended Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth, Texas, and the University of Texas at Austin, where he played college baseball for the Texas Longhorns. The Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB) drafted him in the seventh round, with the 226th overall selection, of the 2019 MLB draft. Henley made his professional debut with the rookie–level Gulf Coast League Astros, and spent the remainder of the year with the Low–A Tri-City ValleyCats. In 11 games, he logged a 1.60 ERA with 46 strikeouts across innings pitched. Henley did not play in a game in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. Asheville Tourists
The Asheville Tourists are a Minor League Baseball team of the South Atlantic League and the High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. They are located in Asheville, North Carolina. Asheville teams have played under the Tourists moniker in different leagues and classifications for over a century, with the earliest dating to 1897. The current team has played continuously in what is now known as the South Atlantic League since 1976, though it was briefly known as the High-A East in 2021. Asheville has won three South Atlantic league championships, first in 1984 and most recently in 2014. Previous Tourists teams won a total of four additional championships. The Tourists play home games at McCormick Field. The park opened in 1924, renovated in 1959, and renovated again for the 1992 season. John "Jake" Bloss (born June 23, 2001) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2024 with the Houston Astros. Career Bloss attended The Early College at Guilford in Greensboro, North Carolina. Designated for assignment (DFA) is a contractual term used in Major League Baseball (MLB). A player who is designated for assignment is immediately removed from the team's 40-man roster, after which the team must within seven days, return the player to the 40-man roster, place the player on waivers, trade the player, release the player, or outright the player from the 40-man roster into Minor League Baseball. Governance MLB player transactions are governed by ''The Official Professional Baseball Rules Book''. The Sugar Land Space Cowboys are a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros Major League Baseball club. They are located in Sugar Land, Texas, part of the Greater Houston metropolitan area, and play their home games at Constellation Field. The team began play as the Sugar Land Skeeters in 2012 as an expansion team of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB), an independent baseball league. Earned Run
In baseball, an earned run is any run that was fully enabled by the offensive team's production in the face of competent play from the defensive team. Conversely, an unearned run is a run that would not have been scored without the aid of an error or a passed ball committed by the defense. An unearned run counts just as much as any other run for the purpose of determining the score of the game. However, it is "unearned" in that it was, in a sense, "given away" by the defensive team. Framber Valdez
Framber Valdez (born November 19, 1993) is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB). Valdez signed with the Astros as an international free agent in 2015, and made his MLB debut in 2018. In 2022, Valdez became the Astros' Opening Day starter, an MLB All-Star, and an All-MLB First Team selection, each for the first time, while compiling an MLB record of 25 consecutive in-season quality starts.
