Blah Blah (EP)
''Blah Blah EP'' is the second EP from UK hip hop artist Lady Sovereign. It was only released in the UK. The lead track from the EP was "Blah Blah". The song had a music video, which was included on the DVD, however, unlike "Random" being the lead single from '' Vertically Challenged'', "Blah Blah" was never released as a single in its own right. It was originally due to be the follow-up to "Random" but "9 to 5" was chosen instead. The EP also came with a bonus DVD and is individually numbered authenticating its limited printing. Production The bassline of the title track is sampled from Damian Marley's "All Night." Critical reception ''The Boston Globe'' praised the title track, calling it an "elastic, rapid-fire rhyme showcase." Lady Sovereign
Louise Amanda Harman (born 19 December 1985), better known by the stage name Lady Sovereign, is a British rapper, best known for the songs " 9 to 5" and "Love Me or Hate Me". Early life and family Lady Sovereign grew up in Chalkhill Estate in Wembley Park, London. In 2010, she said "When I heard Ms. Dynamite's track 'Boooo!' in 2001 it inspired me. I hadn't heard a female MC before that. She's real. Her presence, her image, the way she does everything... she opened so many doors for us girls, MCs are real, they write their own stuff, they rap about what they know, the stuff around them." UK Garage
UK garage, abbreviated as UKG, is a genre of electronic dance music which originated in England in the early to mid-1990s. The genre was most clearly inspired by garage house, but also incorporates elements from dance-pop, R&B, and jungle. It is defined by percussive, shuffled rhythms with syncopated hi-hats, cymbals, and snares, and may include either 4/4 house kick patterns or more irregular " 2-step" rhythms. Grime (music)
Grime is a genre of electronic music that emerged in London in the early 2000s. It developed out of the earlier UK dance style UK garage, and draws influences from jungle, dancehall, and hip hop. The style is typified by rapid, syncopated breakbeats, generally around 140 beats per minute, and often features an aggressive or jagged electronic sound. Emceeing is a significant element of the style, and lyrics often revolve around gritty depictions of urban life. The style initially spread among pirate radio stations and underground scenes before achieving some mainstream recognition in the UK during the mid-2000s through artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Kano, Lethal Bizzle, and Wiley. ''Vertically Challenged'' is the debut EP from UK hip hop artist Lady Sovereign. It was only released in the U.S. and Australia. The EP features the UK hit single "Random" and a remix of her limited edition white-label single "Ch Ching (Cheque 1 2)". In the US, a limited edition was manufactured containing a bonus DVD. ''Public Warning'' is the first studio album by English hip hop artist Lady Sovereign, released on 31 October 2006. Was originally due for release in November 2005 but was pushed back after Lady Sovereign was signed by Island Def Jam. In a July 2006 press release, the album's track listing was confirmed. ''Public Warning'' features Lady Sovereign's three past singles, tracks from her two EPs: '' Vertically Challenged'' and '' Blah Blah'', as well as newly recorded tracks for the release, including " Love Me or Hate Me" and "Those Were the Days". "Random" is the first CD single from UK hip hop artist Lady Sovereign, following the release of her 12" vinyl single " Ch Ching (Cheque 1 2)" in 2004. It was her second and last single for Casual Records in 2005. The single was Lady Sovereign's first to make the UK top 75, peaking at #73 there and spending one week within the top 75. "9 to 5" is a song recorded by from English rapper Lady Sovereign. Released as the second single from the rapper's debut studio album ''Public Warning'' (2006), following the release of her first UK top 75 single "Random". It was her debut single for Def Jam Recordings and was released on 8 August 2005. It contains a sample from the British movie ''Time Bandits''.
